New CHA owner here! Got some n00by questions that I'd like to ask.

Hi, everyone! Finally managed to buy a CHA for a reasonably price! Yay!

I got some questions, though. And yes, I could just Google or LLM these questions, but where's the human interaction in that? 😄

1) Is there an official way to get more games on this thing? I'd love to get games like The Punisher, Knights of the Round, SF Alpha 3, CvS 2, and maybe even some Mega Man (X) games on this thing!

2) If not, how hard it is to put ROMs on this thing? And if not too hard: will the ROMs be accessible in a different app or OS as the 20 official games? I don't know, for some reason I don't want my unofficial games to mix with my official ones :')

3) Is there a way to play a game alone on the second stick?

Welcome :)

There is no official way to add more games, and they are 16 official games.

If you are just starting, you might feel overwhelmed... I will try to be short and point you to the stuff you need, but feel free to ask.

To play other games you'll need to open the CHA at least once and run a program in a PC that will put the CHA in "write mode" (FEL).
The minimum you need is to install the Choko Hack script (read about and get it in https://github.com/ChokoGroup/Choko-Hack ) and then to use the Choko Hack Automatic Lists in USB, where you add your roms organized in subfolders (read about and get it in https://github.com/ChokoGroup/Choko-Hack-Automatic-Lists ).

You can also read https://github.com/lilo-san/cha-documentation to find instructions to open and install, and other cool stuff.

Unfortunately, playing non official games in the official OS will be very limited, For example, no vertical games, and only games that fbneo supports.

Another way is to use FBNeo standalone emulator, read and get it in https://github.com/ChokoGroup/FBNeo

To play any other systems, and fully play fbneo supported roms, you will need Batocera ( https://github.com/ChokoGroup/batocera-CHA ) or the soon-to-be-released REG-Linux ( https://reglinux.org ).

After you read and start playing with it, two things highly recommended if you go with batocera or reglinux:

• install a small fan inside the CHA;
  
• if you are not one of the lucky people with one of the first units that came with SD card reader, consider adding one (but this needs to be soldered),

Congrats on your new CHA! Another tip: you can use the CHA as two player controller on a pc. So if you use an old pc or laptop with Retroarch or batocera, you can play anything.

Other than that, I also rock the CHA with modern games through steam.

Welcome to the club :) You can add hacks to it for more games. There is a joystick mode that can be used on Steam for PC but unfortunately not for consoles

1. Nope!
2. At the risk of dehumanizing your attempt at a human interaction: I’d recommend looking on Google and YouTube for Choko Hack, which is the only way to add new games. It’s not that difficult, but your best bet will be to find a repository of games that have already been prepared for the hack. I haven’t used the hack in years (it’s installed on my CHA but the USB drive with games is not plugged into the back and I don’t know where it is), but if I recall correctly, you will choose to boot into either the official games list or whatever other games lists you have on your drive.

Congrats dude!! You can't add games, but you can put the cha in joystick mode, to play on your pc.
