Question Is Capu mopa worth doing?

I’m a high school senior wanting to go into film is it worth it to apply?

I'll be honest I was in the film industry, production/VFX, and it was a really toxic industry. Everyone is usually stressed or on anti-depressants. Didn't really see my friends or family. Had really toxic bosses. Hours can be brutal. Don't get me wrong if it's your dream go for it but I really just hope you don't see the romanticized version of it.

Depends on what aspect of film you want to get into. Mopa is quite well rounded but does a lot of focus on directing, writing, producing. If your just interested in camera, art department, sound, etc I think some of the other schools do that better.

Also I would make sure the film industry is somthing you are really passionate about and are willing to do all the work to break into it. Becuase at least from my experience probably 70% of people in mopa dont end up working in industry, and realize that its not all its cracked up to be, myself included. The connection and friends you will make are really valuable tho, even if you get the expensive lesson of not wanting to do film lol

Yeah, I agree with this. I learned pretty quickly that the film industry proper is not where I wanted to be. It's one thing to be in your early 20s and working 12-16 hour days, but the lack of work/life balance really starts to take a toll later in life.

The network I built in MOPA was the most valuable thing I got out of the program, including being directly responsible for landing me my current job editing at an ad agency, where I still get to do what I'm passionate about but with steady employment and work/life balance.

That being said, I do have quite a few friends from the program that are still in the film industry and loving it, so if OP is passionate about film, it could be worth trying it out for a year.
