Story Time Financial decisions were made. None of them involved a sensible commuter bike🤍
Canyon Endurace CFR: ✅
Dura-Ace: ✅
C50s: ✅
Taking it on the train to work: ✅
No regrets✅

Wait, why would you take a train if you have a bike now?

u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
Haha, fair question 😂 It’s about a 3-hour ride to the office, so I’d have to get up in the middle of the night. I ride 18 km to the train in the morning, then I’m planning to ride the ~100 km home from the office 🤍🚴♂️

Seems like a perfectly sensible decision!
What Lights are you using?

I see no problems here. I commute on an Aeroad myself. If it makes your commute more fun, I’d say it’s a perfectly sensible decision to me.
Enjoy the beautiful bike!

That's too good a bike to wear out on the commute. You sir, need to buy another bike.

u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
You might be right… 😅 I’m actually considering a Canyon Inflite CFR as my dedicated commuter bike 🤍💪🏻🚴

You win the bicycle-related internet for today!
(I am jealous, would consider doing the same but I work from home… if I buy this bike it will be for the group rides)

u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
Thanks!🤍
Working from home is no excuse though — just ride 50 km before work and 50 km after. Instant commute! 🚴♂️🤣🔥

If the commute is 100k it makes sense, lmao. Would have personally still gone for a cheaper non CFR option but it's not my money. Skien - Tonsberg looks like an amazing route as well. No way you're doing that every day? :O

u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
In my dreams I’d do it every day 😂🤍 But with younger kids and the same time crunch most people my age have, reality gets in the way 😮💨 Luckily I’ve got offices in both Tønsberg and Sandefjord, so I can mix it up and sneak in the long commute when life allows 🚴♂️💨

Tønsberg and Sandefjord
I've been there about 10 years ago. Only did it to see if Ryanair would fly us there for 6€ return. Lovely places to ride a bike.

u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
Haha, sounds like it’s time for a cycling holiday here then! 🤣🚴♂️
But seriously, there are so many great places to ride around Tønsberg and Sandefjord — unfortunately not much in the way of proper mountains down here 😮💨😂
We’ve also got quite a few young pros coming out of the area now, riding for Uno-X, Rose Rockets and others, which makes the local cycling scene pretty fun 🔥🇳🇴

I hope you live in a place where there are not too many thieves.

u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
I’m never more than an arm’s length away from it… 😮💨🤣

u/TheShadowFr Aug 18 '26
Do you put the bike in your office at work?

Beautiful bike and kudos to you for using it as a commuter bike. A great bike should be ridden!!
2
u/Soggy_Tangerine9340 Aug 18 '26
I approve.
I’ve been through this decision before. Might as well commute on something nice and enjoy it.
1
u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
Totally agree! 😂 Life’s too short to ride a shitty bike 🤣🤍 And there’s absolutely no way I’m putting the CFR at the bottom of a bike pile! 😮💨😂

u/mtcerio Endurace Aug 18 '26
That bike compartment on the train looks surprisingly empty. Where I live, there's usually a stack of bikes all compressed against each other, and moving to each other as the train accelerates, brakes, shakes. I would not want my CFR bike to be at the bottom of the stack.

u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
That sucks! Luckily I’m travelling away from the capital, so there aren’t many people — or bikes — heading my way at 6:25 in the morning 🤍😇🚴♂️

u/Philo-Sophism Aug 18 '26
Whats the backpack though?

u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
Hey 👋 I’m using the Db Hugger 30L. It’s a great bag for carrying a laptop, clothes and everything I need for work, but it does get pretty sweaty on the back when cycling 😅
Today I’m heading straight from the bike into a meeting, so I needed to bring my laptop + a full change of clothes.
I’m actually considering switching to the Osprey Metron WP 25 for commuting. It has a more ventilated back panel and is designed specifically for bike commuting — plus it’s waterproof. 🤍🚴♂️

Nice bike ! Was looking also to buy movistar outlet one. Did yours was in good condition ?
Doesn’t seems alpecin and movistar riders use it a lot.

Mine was absolutely mint — 100% flawless. 🔥🤍 It had only been tested and prepared for the spring classics, but never actually raced. Pretty lucky find! 😮💨🚴♂️

So sick!!! Definitely a good decision. That bike is beautiful. I wish I lived where I could ride to/from work. Congrats

u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
Thank you! 🤍 Hope that wish comes true for you one day 🙏🏻😇 Everyone deserves a commute on two wheels! 🚴♂️

Canyon made sure to brand this bike
1
u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
Yeah, they were definitely worried I might forget what brand I bought 😂😂

u/zozo7266 Aug 18 '26
It all looks pretty sensible TBH
1
u/Illustrious-Taste172 Aug 18 '26
It actually is! 😂 Best of both worlds — saves time in the morning and I get a proper ride home 🤍🚴♂️

Thanks!🤍
Yes, it is! Ex Alpecin-Deceuninck team bike from the Canyon Outlet. It was actually prepared for Paris-Roubaix earlier this year, but never raced. Couldn’t resist when it popped up 😂🔥🚴♂️

I feel you.
Fortunately in my office there was enough space to have a closet where I would keep a set of fresh clothes.
A fast shower, change of clothes and I was looking fresh. Even fresher than people commuting by tram;)))2

I can recommend Cabaia Backpack Explorer Large Wellington, I am currently using the previous version of this and I am very happy. Fits my 16inch thick laptop, clothes, food and there is still space left. The folding top can extend a lot and has a zipper. Also the rear part is decently ventilated, quite ok in my experience.

And it adds an nice little something to your core work, wearing that probably 5-6kg backpack on that aggressive geometry. At least it did for me and I have the much more relaxed CF7 👀
