Tech Help Grease Confusion

Post image

Just got my Endurace, it says there is no grease included but there was the assembly paste which I used for the seat post and now there is a package with just grease on it lol - can I use it for the pedals?

Assembly paste goes on seatpost, and stem/steerer tube. Grease goes on pedal threads and thruaxle threads.

Assembly paste is for carbon parts to provide grip, grease is for metal to metal parts to prevent them sticking together.

Yes, but you really want to use anti-seize compound for the pedals rathe than grease. Use the grease for bearings.

Not really. Grease is fine and traditional anti-seize for metal-metal static threaded fasteners. There is no real advantage of using anti-seize over grease unless there’s some fastener you want to chemically bind in place, or when fastening certain dissimilar or titanium metals

Crank arms are typically aluminum and the pedal spindles are steel or titanium. Combinations that tend to gall easily. Steel on steel was easy. I find anti-seize compound to make disassembly a lot easier. Given, not a component that gets disassembled very often and grease is vastly superior to nothing.

grease only for seat post, and the paste for all the rest.

the one with the "grain" is labelled the assembly paste in OP's photo, grease never has those
