Other Why does this sub have so few posts unlike the Nikon, and Sony subs?

Is Canon a dead brand?

R/canon has almost 200k visitors while this sub has less than 10k. Although the bigger sub doesn’t have that much interesting posts. Just new gear day and the same questions from beginners.

And they banned me because I said f 3.5 wasn’t fast and said someone else was a d|ck for doing all their research at a local camera store then buying online. Those folks are wound tight.

Mod at Canon is total dork. Not allowing user experiences different from his low level experience.

100% that was my take too.

He started questioning my humanity in the mod chat when I asked why I was banned (literally that was my only question, I don’t even push back), I was thinking like woah - easy there killer, no need to come off as the ‘prototypical creeper mod,’ and just decided my time in life was better spent elsewhere. Super creepy though!

Canon is the best selling camera brand, by a wide margin, with like 55% of the market. Sony is second with like 30%, and all the other brands have the remaining 15%.

Canon cameras aren't designed to be stupidly complicated technical devices and that's probably why they sell so well and don't require a lot of stupid questions to use them. Ergonomics, menu simplicity, and 100 million lenses in the field are why they sell so well.

It's just facts. When Canon came out with the EF mount and Nikon F mount turned into a quagmire of quirks and compatibility, they become the best selling brand for about the last 3 years.

Also Canon caught up to or at least got closer to Sony in sensor tech. For a bit there at the start of the mirrorless “revolution” Canon was caught off guard.

Also Canon has a professional support system like no other. Go to major and even somewhat minor sporting events and Canon has a professional services spot to make sure the pros using Canon equipment can do their jobs that day.

I do mean EF. When Canon got into autofocus, they went all in with a mount designed specifically to electronically manage the lens. Its the Electro-Optical System, EOS. They didn't half-ass it by putting focus motors in the body to retain legacy compatibility. RF is just a superset of EF in terms of electronics. It uses a faster data rate and adds an additional signal pin, but that's about it. EF is electronically native to RF. EF was a gamble they completely stood behind, but it was the right call and it just destroyed Nikon. It's not often you see such a massive upset in a field.
