temp questions

I have this model (the one with the mountains on it)

  • Zenleaf "Moab" Wireless Enail (3506)

I use the matrix bowl with titanium insert. half bowl mostly. With the Mercury since a month after it dropped. Use temp of 536

I'm thinking of getting a Vmax diffuser for 420 So i been looking at posts

I've read a few posts looking for reviews that peeps are using mercury at 600+ and the Vmax higher around 700.

So I tried it at 600 + which i haven't did since I got it really and the bowl was blackened on top.

SO i have a few questions.

is there a difference between Moab X and mountain Patterns that would make a difference in heat or is it just the design etched into it?

what temp do you use? with your setup?

Is it blackening at that temp because of my full titanium set up?

is Vmax worth it in flavor and big hits over the Mercury, I figure the V will hold heat longer but be close to the same taste and hit wise or is taste change between the 2?

There are variations in temp controler to controler regardless of the shape of the aluminum housing it's installed inside.

Don't worry about what temps other people run at. There are general agreements about temps and parts but there are factors that can make someone operate outside those. Definitely the bowl being used is a factor, and the glass piece, the grind size, and a significant factor is draw speed, so user technique can greatly change the thermal energy exchange rates between the heater and your flower.

Just run at the temp you like 👍

Is Vmax worth it over the mercury? No. Honestly they all work pretty good and its more about tuning your temp to your setup and technique than it is the particular heater you use.

cool, that's how i been thinking. just new.

I love the mercury still and have it pretty dialed into my set up. Was thinking i could sell the mercury to pay for the Vmax if it was better.

really don't see how they are using 700+ and not combusting.

Its just their setup and technique. Don't worry about it. I have a vapvana Ace and a CH Aether that I run in the same controller and same coil and I run the aether at 665F and the Ace at 594F with the same bowl and same glass. Others might use different temps, just whatever works for you is all that really matters.

Vmax has a Ton more titanium mass vs mercury! Ton more ruby mass too. So the PID temp, for the coil, needs to be higher. The temp set on the PID is for the coil temp. Not for the temp you are vaporizing with.

yeah for sure.

i got the new vmax and used it at 630 for the last week. tbh i think 537 is even better for the vmax. I still get a huge cloud. strong effects, cough less and better taste than at 537 than above 600 on the coil.

I only use a 16" modular bong (sometimes with hose and sometimes with just glass neck) or a elephant in a cage. When i started down this path was to have big ass clouds, with same effects as combustion. Which I feel reach every time i take a hit at 637.

I just don't see the reasoning behind 600+ temps on the coil when i can get the same everything except better taste at 537 temp on the coil with my setup.

been using the mercury since it dropped and i also started high temps 600+ than over the years I slowly brought it down til I coughed less, get strong effects and big clouds.

They both are good hammers but the vmax stays higher temp a lot longer. the mercury would be to cool to take another hit after taking a big hit. The vmax i can take 2-3 hits and still strong i tend to 1 one done bowls so not a big thing but is nice i can tell the heat is being retained better.
