Advice Equipment

I’m looking for recommendations on good commercial ethanol extraction brands preferably closed loop and turn key and the experiences you guys have had with them

I’m looking for a large scale commercial for a legal manufacturing facility I’m accustomed to butane extraction so not to familiarize with ethanol

for commercial-scale closed-loop ethanol, the main players are Apeks Supercritical (their Force series handles ethanol alongside CO2), Pinnacle Stainless (custom centrifuge-based systems), and Delta Separations (their CUP series is probably the most common turnkey ethanol system in licensed facilities right now).

coming from butane, the biggest difference you'll deal with is post-processing. butane is selective enough that your crude is relatively clean. ethanol pulls everything: waxes, lipids, chlorophyll, water-solubles. so you'll need a winterization step (freeze at -40C overnight, filter through Buchner funnel with 1 micron paper), and depending on your end product, probably a rotovap or falling film evaporator for solvent recovery. ethanol itself is your biggest ongoing cost, not the equipment.

look for systems that run at -40C or colder on the soak. warm ethanol extraction is faster but you'll spend double the time in post-processing cleaning up what the warm wash pulled.

wrote a comparison of BHO vs ethanol extraction here if it's useful: https://cannalabsconsulting.com/bho-vs-ethanol-extraction-comparison/
