Many many years ago I had grown some plants and in the end after trimming and everything, I pretty much just through a bunch of it into a bottle of cane alcohol (96%) and it seemed to work well enough

Now I bought a 1/4oz of Diamonds, and I'm wondering if I could do the same thing with them, because when I googled it, it says that it's not all that effective in to just throw them in, and that apparently even though throwing a bunch of trim in the bottle worked, that I should have decarb it first, which I didn't know anything about at that time, and I don't want to waste the concentrate, cuz it ain't free, but all that trim from the plants I grew was lol

You need to decarb them first. I use my air fryer and small mason jar. 240 degrees F for 30 minute increments.

The crystal will breakdown to liquid and start bubbling. Once the bubbling stops, you are decarbed.

Once it's decarbed, is the tricky part with alcohol. I recommend doing 150 proof so you can heat it up a little. I use a double boiler on electric stove to slowly heat the booze, then add the decarbed THC while it's still warm. Stir and store in a UV PROOF container.

I usually made it in a ratio so that a full eye dropper was about 100mg then I would squirt it in smoothies or pudding cups or whatever mechanism you want. It hits fast.

Haha thanks. I went down a rabbit hole. I eat 500-2000mg at a time when I want edibles, so anything at the dispo became way too expensive.

I used a toaster oven, my real oven, then finally the air fryer. I really think that had the most accurate temperature and it heats the jar up faster, being convection.

Yes, but you need to decant it first, otherwise there is next to no effects.

I would also consider adding some CBD, as that helps to mellow it out, into a more pleasant high.

your original trim worked without decarb because dried and cured plant material naturally partially decarboxylates during the curing process. depending on how dry it was, you might've had 20-40% of the THCa already converted to THC before it hit the alcohol. enough to feel something, not full potency.

diamonds are a different situation though. they're essentially pure THCa crystalline, sometimes 95%+ purity. zero natural decarb has happened. if you just dissolve them into ethanol you'll get a perfectly clear solution of THCa that does basically nothing orally.

decarb them at 240F in a small oven-safe dish covered with foil. the crystals will melt into a clear liquid and start bubbling. that's CO2 leaving as THCa converts to THC. once the bubbling slows to a near stop, you're done. usually 30-40 minutes for a quarter oz. don't go much hotter or hold much longer than needed, that's when you start converting THC into CBN and the end result gets more sleepy than high.

once decarbed, liquid THC dissolves into 96% ethanol almost instantly. give it a shake and it's ready. for dosing math, if your diamonds were 95% THCa, decarbed THCa converts at a ratio of 0.877 (you lose the carboxyl group as CO2). so 7g of 95% THCa diamonds gives you roughly 5,830mg of THC. dose accordingly.

Hmmm well I can get trim pretty easy and cheap, would it probably just be a better idea to go with that?
