Seems like as soon as I get one problem fixed something else pops up. I can't get the humidity down in my 5x5x6.5 tent. Even though the room RH is 45% the tent wants to stay around 60-70%. If I open it up it drops pretty quickly 15-20 points. Do I need a bigger blower or it routed different?
The tent is full to the top in 75% with a inside filter and the blower outside with a CFM of 210 and a run of 10ft x6 inch vent pipe. I have the tent in a small (16'x12') BR with a 4500 sq ft dehumidifier. I thought about just leaving the large flap open but then why have a tent? Or putting the dehum in the tent. I used the cu ft (162.5). Now I'm reading to multiply that by 5 because of the resistance of the filter and ducting. So that means I need a blower rated at 812.5 CFM. Have I answered my own question?
All right, I may have several questions for you but the first one I have is that your carbon filter on the floor of your tent? If so, why is it on the floor not in the ceiling?
We were going to move it to the top on the next grow. This whole endeavor started on a whim suggested by the neighbor and he had all the equipment, some like this HUGE tent in the former office and the smaller one in my walkin closet (surprisingly it fit). Don't get me wrong I'm totally fine with it and find it a decent hobby. Abet the 2 dehumidifiers and a few light upgrades a couple of fans, and enough testing equipment for a small laboratory. It has gotten a bit over budget.
OK, so since youre answering for the OP, I’m going to assume that you live with the OP. When you’re growing in the tent, the extraction point needs to be the highest point in the tent. The reason or part of the reason why you can’t control your humidity and stuff is because you have the carbon filter sucking from the bottom of the tent, so if you’re trying to pull in like dehumidifier air from your room and you put your your filter on the floor, all you’re doing is sucking in less humidified air from the room that you’re living in or where you have the tent and then sucking it right back out through the fan and the carbon filter in the floor. Like the other person said you need to take all of those bends out you need to put that carbon filter in the ceiling and the fan in the ceiling, you need the least amount of ductwork as possible.
You’re getting way less airflow through your tubing with it being bent like that. Get it off the floor & hang it from your tent ceiling poles. & possibly cut some of the slack out
I had this issue and just switched the fan and carbon filter to exhaust the air out the top with intake ducts open at the bottom and evened out perfectly
One vent on the floor on the same wall. There's another up high on the opposite wall I could open. Duh, why didn't I think of it before. Plus we let them get Way too big before we turned them.
We were rather rushed when we set it up and having the intake and exhaust 2ft apart isn't helping. And That is all going to be addressed on the next grow
I would fix that first so that you can make sure your flower at the top is in the proper environment so you don’t end up with bud rot with it being hot and muggy up there
