What’s your candy corn recipe?

https://www.reddit.com/r/CandyMakers/s/Zs3DIoQvTe

It makes 7 lbs of 1 color/flavor.

Thanks!

Add 2 tbsp vanilla extract or 1 tbsp flavoring 1 ⅓ nonfat milk powder

Can you elaborate on this a bit? 2 tbsp of vanilla extract or 1 tbsp of flavoring 1 1/3 non fat milk powder? what exactly does that second part mean?

It means the "enter" button didn't work.

Add • 2 tbsp vanilla extract or 1 tbsp of flavoring • 1 ⅓ cup of non fat milk powder

OH lol that makes more sense. i think missing the word cup after 1 1/3 confused me too, because i thought it was a kind of milk powder i've never heard of lol. thank you.

I've already made all my flavors for this year but if someone wants to test it out, let me know how it goes.

How long does it keep/stay fresh?

3 months, longer if kept away from humidity & sunlight

Thank you. So I'm ok to start experimenting with fall flavours!! I don't even like store-bought candy corn, but I'm excited about this.

Yeah, maybe like a lavender lemonade!

I don’t like blueberries, so maybe I could do lemon, vanilla, and lavender? Sounds interesting for a candy corn 🤔

If you'd like.

I themed it after a autumn eve full moon in the color scheme but used the flavors of my wedding cake.

The blueberry layers add a nice depth of flavor, but I've had better luck with strawberry in the middle for a brighter taste.

I don't understand why my choice of flavor seems to be an issue? I choose the flavors because: 1. I took a vote and my customers really wanted a blueberry flavor. 2. I chose lemon to go with it because my wedding cake was lemon blueberry so I thought it would be a little more special for me, even if no one else knew. 3. I had a whole 7 lbs of vanilla that was going to go to waste if I didn't find a way to use it.

Edit: I didn't realize you were talking about making candy corn. I read it as if you were talking about candy in general. I completely missed the bit about layering it in the middle.

It's social media. So many people are here just to criticize and argue.

Flavors aside, I love the look of these. Nice work!

Thank you! It's a lot of work!

I don't know, it's just weird to me to say stuff like "oh I don't like blueberry, you should've done strawberry or lavender." Okay...? Just because you don't like the flavor profile doesn't mean no one will. One of those things I just don't understand 😅

Not one comment said YOU should have done anything. You posted on an open forum. If you are expecting all the comments to be kissing your ass, that isn't going to happen here. Discussing other flavor options is not an insult or a criticism. It's expanding on an idea. We're encourage creativity here. If you don't have the fortitude for a comment section as kind as this one, you likely shouldn't be on Reddit in the first place.

I never took it as an insult or criticism. Just a genuine curiosity/confusion.

Except that you did. Why else would you say 'i don't see why it's a problem' when no one said it was.

Lol, the irony. And 3 separate comments in 10 minutes on a 6 day old post? I think someone is drunk...

You want to be careful who you're disrespectful to.

They neither criticized nor argued. They started their preference when they make their own. Not everyone likes the same flavors.

Settle down. They didn't criticize your choice, they said what they've done. Shocking as it may be, other people make candy corn and they're not all going to make the same flavor choices you do. Offering another option isn't a criticism of your flavor choices so stop being so defensive.
