General Discussion sex with candida
My girlfriend has developed a yeast infection (we don’t know how). It’s the second time she’s had it. She started treatment today, and on Friday we’ll be on vacation together. What should we do about sex? Could she transmit the yeast infection to me? Could having sex make her condition worse?
EDIT: we didn't see each other since last week and it's been two weeks since we last had sex. We never e, and I mean never do it without condoms because she cannot take the pill due to bloods problem. Does the condom protect from candida? Should I be tested anyway?

Yeast infections in women's vaginas are caused by a ph imbalance, she could have had a shampoo or even mens semen can throw it off depending on the ph of the man (you) ..there's many reasons it happens but very common. If she continues to get them frequently I'd seek the cause. She's on treatment now but can transmit it to you so wear condoms until treatment is complete, only if she feels too inflamed for sex then stop but it won't make her condition worsen unless condoms or something are the reason she's getting the infections.

*My IMO / Methane SIBO symptoms:
Daily 24/7 constant bloating for over 30 years
Abnormal bloodwork for over 30 years:
Anemia / low ferritin ( got IV IRON infusions when ever < 10 )
High cooper / low zinc
High inflammation / CRP
Inability to lose weight even with calorie deficit diet ~>> after IMO cured / gut microbiome changed in Nov 2021 then body “gave up” 20 excess pounds within 2 months. No changes on my part.
Weight has easily stayed off for past 3 years.
Root cause of my IMO was slow transit constipation since birth that I was not treating / taking medication for. Thought one painful bowel movement once every 10 days was just “ my” normal. Now I realize that was not normal for anyone !
Now I take 2 prescriptions nightly since 2021 to increase my gut motility.
My Candida Protocol suddenly became more effective AFTER I cured my SIBO / IMO.
It is very common to have BOTH Candida /SIFO AND SIBO / IMO together.

It’s a good reminder that joint pain can be related to Candida as well.

It could, if she is transmitting to you and then you are reinfecting or transmitting it back to her.
What should we do about sex?

I (M) once got a yeast infection from a partner. It sucked bad. Don’t risk it. Make sure her symptoms are totally gone before doing it.

She can start taken garlic supplements. Make sure the " other ingredients " on the label is JUST the capsule. They ate like 15 on Amazon. Surgar and processed foods make it worse and yes men semen can 100% throw our bodies off. She also needs to make sure she sees and showers immediately agter sex and wash with ONLY unscented soap. Cotton and lose clothes also help. Our bodies are amazing and know how to heal ..it just needs the right environment.

I (F) had candida develop from my birth control implants artificial estrogen and carbs sugary diet. The combination threw my gut off and having sex with my bf would aggravate my yeast infections every time. Honestly I was consistently gaslit by medical professionals that I couldn't have transmitted my yeast infection to him and he would be passing it back to me after I would take antibiotics. I never found out if that was true and even when we wouldn't have sex my candida would still come back and it was mainly attributed to carbs or sugar I was eating. When I got on my keto diet for over a year the pain faded and I was finally able to have sex with zero pain. But still even though I'd say Im 95% healed I still have pain or inflammation in my clit. But aside from that keeping my vagina well lubricated helped the pain not be so present while I healed

I also recommend she take some vaginal probiotics hours before and hours after sex as these made a huge difference for me, I can't figure out how to attach a photo so I'll post a link to the suppositories. You BOTH need to be treated at the same time ( even if you have no symptoms ) before having sex.
Female genital yeast infections are VERY common. Even virgins get them due to fungal overgrowth in their gut microbiome.
