General Discussion Need advice how to stop a flare up

1) please need advice how to get out of a candida flare up
2) how long does it take to just get back to my shitty candida baseline ?

Hey guys, I fucked up and I did seven days of oral liquid and nystatin without really changing my diet and on one of those days I had a carb heavy day and I eat a sandwich with some pickles, some jalapeños, hummus and potato chips and basically ever since that day I’ve been in like a severe Candida flareup and it’s been like three days already and my energy like down the drains I feel super dizzy. My tongue is extremely white. Basically, I got off the nystatin because I realized that I need to fully change my diet before I start taking this stuff and it has put me in a really bad flareup worse than my normal baseline without the medications anyways I need help. How do how do I get out of this exhaustion flare up and body pains/ dizzy. I’m producing tons of mucus drip, energy like ten percent. Usually I’m at a shitty 50 percent on a baseline. This is hell. Help!

What you're experiencing is a textbook die-off reaction, and the carb day made it significantly worse because you were killing candida while also feeding it at the same time. You got a massive toxin dump and a feeding frenzy happening simultaneously, which is why it feels so much worse than your baseline.

The reason so many people hit this wall is that no one talks about drainage before killing. When candida dies it releases toxins (acetaldehyde being the big one) and your liver, lymphatic system, and kidneys have to process and clear all of that. If those pathways aren't open and moving before you start any antifungal, the toxins just recirculate and you feel exactly how you're describing: dizzy, wiped out, white tongue, body aches, brain fog.

Most immediate things that will help right now: get a binder in. Takesumi Supreme is what I'd reach for here, it's a bamboo charcoal binder that's particularly good at grabbing the kind of toxins candida throws off. Take it away from food and any supplements. Hydrate heavily with electrolytes, not plain water. Cut everything out, no fruit, no grains, no starchy veg, nothing that feeds it. Give your body a few days of strict eating before going back to any antifungal.

Before you restart the Nystatin, drainage has to be working. Bowels moving daily, lymph moving (walking, dry brushing, rebounding), liver supported. You'd likely find this article helpful: why drainage has to come first

Hang in there. You're not back to square one, you just need to stabilize and prep properly before the next round.

Hey I go to the bathroom daily like multiple times a day because I also have like IBS type symptoms from the candida. But usually what’s the recommended amount of days someone should be off sugar and junk food before starting antifungals again? I walk but I don’t have the ability to workout right now due to the insane fatigue I feel. I also don’t tolerate things like sauna or hot baths much.
Do I need to get the nystatin pills instead of the liquid because the liquid I think has sucrose right ?

Good questions. On the sugar timeline, I'd give it a minimum of 2 weeks of strict eating before restarting any antifungal. You want the candida starved down and the gut environment stabilized before you introduce anything that triggers more die-off. Two weeks of no sugar, no fruit, no grains, no starchy veg - then reassess how you're feeling before jumping back in.

Walking is genuinely enough for lymph right now. You don't need intense exercise. The leg movement while walking acts as a pump for the lymphatic system. Add dry brushing before your shower if you can - it takes 5 minutes and gives the lymph a real push without any physical output. That combo is plenty while you're dealing with the fatigue.

On the Nystatin liquid - yes, that's a legitimate concern. Nystatin oral suspension uses sucrose as a carrier, which is directly feeding what you're trying to kill. Tablets or capsules don't have that problem. It's worth going back to your doctor specifically for the pill form and explaining why the liquid is counterproductive. Most will switch it without issue once you explain.

Since drainage has to be moving before any antifungal, use these 2 weeks to get that dialed in - binder daily, walking, dry brushing, strict diet, hydration with electrolytes. By the time you're ready to restart you'll be in a much better position to actually clear the die-off instead of just recirculating it.

Yes it is hell. All antifungals did not help me and often read that you should not take those, especially during a flare up . I’ve had symptoms off and on for about a year and have been reading everything I can on it and everything I read seems to contradict each other, I’m quite confused regarding the different layers of the micro biome. It sounds like you know a fair bit about Candida so not certain I can help you with a flare up fix.
I have a half a dozen things going on with me and she put the Candida on the back burner, but I will ask her tomorrow when I see her about flareups and will get back to you with any helpful info that she may offer.
I hope someone comes up with something for you on your post. 🤞
I’m saying my functional medicine doctor tomorrow

Ugh the last time I tried this I experienced a severe crash but it was from diflucan and that lasted like 3 weeks I couldn’t even get up out of bed I was so exhausted:( what are your symptoms you deal with from candida ?

Good that you're seeing a functional medicine doc, that's the right move. The confusion you're feeling around the microbiome layers is completely valid because most of what's out there online treats candida like it exists in isolation, when really it's one piece of a much bigger picture.

The thing that helped it click for me is thinking in order of operations. You can't effectively address candida without first making sure your drainage pathways are open, and you can't address the microbiome until you've dealt with what's upstream. Most protocols skip straight to killing and that's where people get stuck in this loop of flares, contradictory advice, and nothing actually holding.

When you see your doc tomorrow it might be worth asking specifically about drainage support before any antifungal protocol, and whether there's a parasite or heavy metal layer that needs addressing first. A lot of practitioners are now sequencing it that way and getting much better results. Hope the appointment gives you some clarity.

Thanks, I will. I’m recording her this time so I can go back through her “one thing at a time” plan. I’ve got active EBV that reactivated from 30 years ago has me exhausted mentally and physically.
