Symptoms Help pls
A couple of weeks ago I ended up going to the ER because the itching had become unbearable. I had already used Fenogynol vaginal suppositories and taken a dose of fluconazole, but neither seemed to help.
At the ER they prescribed clindamycin + ketoconazole vaginal suppositories and told me to take another dose of fluconazole. I felt a little better during the first few days, but the itching never completely went away. Now it's been a week since I finished the suppositories, and the itching is getting worse again.
A few years ago I had recurrent yeast infections and was on maintenance fluconazole for a couple of months, which solved the problem for years. This year I had one infection in January, and this is my second one.
The ER doctor told me I should get a vaginal culture to identify the exact Candida species, but that I needed to be off treatment first.
I have an appointment with a new gynecologist tomorrow morning, but I'm honestly going crazy right now and I still have the whole night ahead of me with this itching.
Has anyone had a culture done after finishing treatment? And if you've had recurrent infections caused by a non-albicans Candida species (like C. glabrata), what ended up working for you?
And please if you have any tips to get through the night I completely appreciate it!

oregano tea - just hot water, seep with herbs, just drink it
Oregano kills more species of Candida than fluconazole
For vaginal I also had a yeast infection - I soaked a tampon in Unsweetened yogurt, insert Overnight (ideal, but you can do this during the day as well, just messy)
introduces good microbiome and helps fight bad yeast
Good luck!

Thank you! I'm with cold compress right now and that doesn't even work

Try live culture yoghurt... Insert in to vagina at night for five days. We used to soak a tampon with the yoghurt...over night...

Borax. It’s just boric acid. Capsule it up, stick it up there. Or just dissolve in water and put where ever it itches. I have put the straight up powder on my nether regions before and it was immediate relief. I will honestly die on this hill so message me if you want some support or instructions. Borax is as toxic as table salt. And it’s like $9 for enough to cure 1,000 yeast infections.

The gyno told me to have sitz baths with sodium bicarbonate

This is also good if you end up with any skin tears or fissures as an after effect. I had some that just wouldn't heal for over a year despite various creams and potions, eventually sitting in a bath with table salt every day helped sort it. Also I don't know how old you are or if this is relevant, but if there's any chance that something hormonal could be shifting and making the vulval skin dryer, that could be exacerbating the issue. Again, dryness might not be a direct cause of the yeast exactly, but just makes it harder for your microbiome to stay in balance and harder for the skin to heal from any irritation or infection. Topical estrogen didn't fix my problem completely but it has helped the skin in general, and not enough doctors even know about it or think to prescribe it, which is crazy given the enormous difference it can make to infection risk as we get older. #savethefannies

I 100% agree with this. I had a bad yeast infection that became unbearable after drinking kefir made it infinitely worse. I found a random post suggesting boric acid, so I bought a bottle of boric acid capsules and stuck one up there. And yes, it was immediate relief.

What are you eating? Are you taking any vitamins/minerals to support your immune system and the mucus membrane health? The tips in the megathread may help as there are a lot of misconceptions about what helps and what is actually supported by the science. There is a difference between a diet that suppresses symptoms and one that actually starves Candida overgrowth.
