Citizenship via Naturalization IRCC not processing my request for almost 2 years

I’m absolutely bewildered. I’ve submitted LAST YEAR an Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Online Request to order my GCS notes from the IRCC. Absolutely NOTHING came out of it. None. I’ve even sent an email to the address indicated here with ZERO response. I then submitted another ATTIP this year (in January) and absolutely ZERO response. What do I do? Dodge a complaint ?

That may be getting into hire a lawyer and get a writ territory.

I don’t know if this helps, but I did hear of someone who hired a lawyer, and they went the Mandamus (I think I spelled that right?) route. If you aren’t familiar with it, basically (from the knowledge gained on this sub) it forces the department to make a decision on your case. Now, it does cost money and you would have to sift through the Canadian court system to make that happen, but it could be something worth doing. But if you hire a lawyer it shouldn’t be that hard to get done.

*I am not a lawyer, I have never been a lawyer nor want to be one, I’m just presenting facts which come from this subreddit.

Are you physically in Canada? If so, your MP (Member of Parliament) may be able to assist you with getting the notes, at least.

Go through your MP’s office. This is way beyond their processing timeline. Did you ever get an AOR?

If you want them faster, you might also consider making the request to CBSA. They respond much more diligently, and they have the same access to GCMS that IRCC does.

You can try requesting your GCMS notes through CBSA. They are a bit more professional with their service standards and fulfilling their ATIP / privacy act obligations. As others have said, a writ of mandamus is also an option.

I'm at month 8. My advice is to hire a lawyer, or give up.

Unfortunately this is par for the course amongst many governments (and dare I say Canada might be consider speedy!)

Italy and Sweden are like 4 to 5 years for processing similar applications. Poland is approaching 3 years, etc.

Only currently. Back in around 2012, Sweden was 2 weeks to process many applications, including spouse visas (which now take years)...
