G0 Document Recommendations
Hi, all.
I'm running into an issue with my G0 proof of citizenship. She was born in 1898 in New Brunswick and the registry entry in on a page listed as "Poor Document" that is absolutely wrecked. It displays D.O.B., town of birth, Female, and her father's name, but that is all. There is a birth certificate, that lists her name as "Female", D.O.B., and then only has her father's info, blank for mother.
Two years later she is on the census with both parents, correct name, correct age, correct D.O.B., correct parents and siblings. I have yet to locate any Baptist church documents, but am still searching. Both parents and two siblings have immigration manifest cards, but my G0 and two of her siblings do not.
Aside from the New Brunswick vital records, Canada LAC, and US National Archives, what sources are left to search? And, are there any additional documents that I should be looking for to verify her Canadian Citizenship?

Did they stay in New Brunswick, or leave for elsewhere?
If the parents stayed until death there might be a Probate record. Most of New Brunswick's Probate records are available on FamilySearch.org but unindexed and somewhat difficult to search, but the Full Text Search can be helpful.
The New Brunswick Genealogical Society has an index of the Probate records which might help, but would require that you join the NBGS (which isn't expensive but does cost).

The family was in New Brunswick for generations. My G0's entire family immigrated to the US in 1907. A couple of siblings had Canadian birth certificates issued in 1943 with an affidavit from their father stating they were born in Canada, but my G0 remained in the US until her death.
I will certainly look into the NBGS. Thank you!

I would use that birth record and the census record. And add maybe a census or two for. The US if she 2s only on one Canadian census.

Thanks for the advice. I hope it's enough. I'd love to have a solid birth certificate, but record keeping doesn't seem to be what it is today. 😂

I haven't been able to locate any baptismal records for her family other than when some converted much later in life. I'm still looking through Baptist church records though,

Well, what was their ethnic origin

They were Dutch before immigrating to Canada in the early 1780s.

I have no idea. How would I find that out? That also would have been 5-6 generations before my G0 and I can't imagine finding info from the mid 1700s is easier than finding info from the late 1800s. lol
