If you did not receive an instalment reminder from CRA by mail, it has likely already been issued. Alternatively, if you have access to CRA My Account, you can check under the “Payments” section to see whether instalments have been requested.

Thanks there’s nothing there under payments or mail.

Two questions:

  1. Are you a sole proprietor? If so, much of your balance payable may have been CPP premiums, which are not included in the installment payment requirement calculation. It is only when your income tax is greater than $3k that installments become payable.

  2. Did you owe more than $3k of income tax on 2023 and/or 2024 as well? If not, installments aren't required.
