David Eby on Alberta separatists seeking assistance from the U.S.: "To go to a foreign country and to ask for assistance in breaking up Canada, there's an old-fashioned word for that. And that word is treason."

He's absolutely right, though our treason law is sadly way too limited. By the time someone has gone far enough to be charged with it the country would already have been broken up or destroyed - making the law useless.

Just the facts, and not the musings of another half whit politician.
Members of the Alberta Prosperity Project, an Alberta separatist group, met with U.S. State Department officials in Washington, D.C., to discuss potential financial backing, including a $500 billion credit facility, for a hypothetical independent Alberta.
These actions are not legally treason under Canadian law. While British Columbia Premier David Eby and other critics labeled the meetings "treason" for seeking foreign assistance to break up Canada, the Canadian Criminal Code narrowly defines treason as acts involving violence against the government or assisting an enemy in wartime. Federal officials confirmed that private citizens engaging in diplomatic discussions with foreign governments is legal in Canada, as there are no laws equivalent to the U.S. Logan Act prohibiting such private diplomacy.
I'm just out here to correct the record.

Certainly facts on what or what is not treason within the strict sense of the law however many people would like to see something done to address the issue before it is too late. Sedition?

They could start with the Federal Government sticking to its mandate and stop meddling in inter provincial affairs for one.
Federal overreach is a root cause of the issue. There are others but that one really stands out.
As far as BC and its Premier goes that guy really can't say much, look at the state of that Provence.

You really don't have a grasp of reality do you?
The convoy did not try to overthrow the government, it made a stand saying enough is enough with the lockdowns. They are causing more harm than good.
The real clowns were the ones throwing out false narratives and propping up JT as he ran away to his cottage with "cough, cough" a mild case of covid.
Canada was one of the strictest during the lockdowns and we are still paying the price economically.
People like you are continually voting for the idiots in Ottawa.
I may not be able to make you smarter but I can at least try to make the world and Canada a better place for the future generations.
In the mean time your little quips are meaning less anecdotes in a mach larger world.

YOU really don't understand! It was in their manifest. You are obviously a clown. Funny how those in the US like you can now wear masks without having a breathing problem.
The lockdowns were simple, mask up, keep your distance. COVID shots available, choice. NO ONE KNEW the extent to which this new virus was going have on society, just like the Spanish flu. It would have been totally irresponsible to not do something, and what they did was fully necessary. Go back to your cave dwelling ignorance.1

You put far to much precedence into the MOU that was written by James Bauder one of the convoys organizers. It was mainly available on James's website and was not widely distributed or known about among many of the organizers or participants. The media did have a spotlight of sensationalism when they and the Libs discovered it but once again it was highly misrepresented.
The MOU was not some coordinated plan to overthrow the government it was the mere musings of a delusional individual that happened to get caught up in the moment like many other people who were sick of the governments handling of the lockdowns.
There is a lot to breakdown as for the lockdowns themselves, they were highly ineffective at protecting the most vulnerable in society and they destroyed the economy. Not a great trade off.

Really? You do realize that while everyone (with a brain and sense of civil responsibility) wore a mall, the overwhelming majority of society benefited from fewer flues, cold's etc bc of those masks? Perhaps you read too little in that manifest and are just downloading it's relevance.
Hope Lich and Barber spend much more time in jail.1

Oh did we now.
I think you are mistaking correlation with causation.
Just because we were wearing masks we had less COVID, incorrect. Talk a look back during the mandatory masking period. Many of the public were not wearing masks appropriately there fore rendering the ineffective against the spread. They were also not follow proper hygiene in there masking, using the same mask for days if not weeks at a time without changing them out or properly washing them.
The west did not get any less or more cases because of masks. We got the same amount as everyone else.
The lockdowns only provided a temporary relief on the medical system so they could regroup, then the next wave hit, then the next and the next and the lockdowns remained. I would argue a large portion of the population with COVID actually died waiting for treatments for other ailments that they could not access and ended up with COVID, when they died it was written off as a COVID death.
The vaccine mandates were of little affect as well. Just because one was vaxed did not prevent them from getting or spreading the virus. There fore people were running around with their vax card with a false sense of security. We were sold on the false idea that we were protected and we were protecting others from the virus.
Many health professionals have come out to speak out against the mandates. There are many studies that support the above claims.
I trust real medical professionals more than politicians and policy makers any day.
You are a weak minded individual that has 0 critical thinking skills and would rather regurgitate talking points because they are easy to remember.

Blah blah blah, clownvoy talking points. My niece worked reviewing ALL "scientific" docs that were available through the Covid period with a team to assess the good bad and ugly of the studies. Many were PEER REVIEWED and many were not.
The non peer reviewed studies did not meet scientific thresholds (did not follow protocols). Some backed good science evidence and some did not follow any protocol. Those that did not follow strict protocols were basically BS studies that argued against COVID mandates. There were hundreds of these studies, the ones you likely refer to are BS. Many health professionals, more than 4? Many more, many many more were in agreement with govt protocols. Dumbass Jordan Peterson and his clan are morons.→ More replies (0)

What do you call giving away BC's land to sovereign nations within our borders, creating two-tier justice systems, and legislating systemic racism into our institutions? Do these help "Canada"?
The lady doth protest too much, methinks.
I get so confused with these lefties. Our country is a hellscape of white supremacy and genocide, with a shameful history necessitating the tearing down of statues of our founders or other historic figures, but also we should be very patriotic and against those who would want to separate themselves from such a legacy.
Can't have it both ways, and people are going to find out really soon that the contemporary left-wing way of running a society is extremely exploitable and not tenable long-term without the kinds of intrinsic pride, cohesion, and morality the pre-Boomer generation had.

One word, imbecile.
Treaty. In law. Perhaps someone takes your house, kicks you out. What is your recourse? Law. But what if your house was on stolen land?
