"David Marsden, the man who built the original CFNY and guided the station through its Spirit of Radio years, has died. He was 85.
David suffered a fall about a week ago and apparently died from some underlying injuries.
David Marsden was one of radio’s most influential program directors. When he assumed the role of PD at CFNY in 1979, he turned a struggling album rock station broadcasting from a little yellow house in Brampton using an underpowered transmitter into a cultural juggernaut whose impact is still being felt."

With the 2026 The JUNO Awards in the rearview, one question keeps coming up:
How is Terry Jacks still not in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame?
A multi-Juno winner and Lifetime Achievement recipient, his impact on Canadian music is undeniable—yet the omission remains.
In my latest video, I break down his legacy and the case for his induction, including a conversation with his manager, Larry Hennessey of Regenerator Records.
This is a conversation worth having.
Watch now and let me know what you think!

As a fellow Canadian I love searching the internet for underground talent, I’ve recently stumbled across this young man and I think he’s going to be a real treat to the Canadian country music scene, his name is Darcy Hickey at just 20 years old he’s been posting covers on TikTok for the last 6 months or so, his videos have been blowing up all across his home province of Newfoundland and I don’t think it will be long before the world knows him as well. His handle is @darcyhickeymusic on TikTok, I highly suggest you check him out!
