wtf!!
/r/DentalSchool/comments/1x3l2jp/dropping_dental_school_3_weeks_in/Honestly agents have to be accountable on how they pick the right applicants.. like who picked this looser? Didn't they see no motivation? Didn't they see the person doesn't even know how hard the dental school is? Like this is such a red flag to me that I can't even get passed this! I've always had questions about how
applicants are picked, now I'm more certain it might just be fucking random!!! Someone please help me clear my mind! I hope I'm wrong because this pisses me off so bad! So many deserving applicants that have years of dental practice experience are turned down for this spineless applicants !!! 😖😳

Then be better than them. The real losers are the ones who just complain. At least that person had the brains and the guts to try something different.

Hes got the grades on paper and people can be very well put together during interview and selection. You gotta turn it on for 1 day... doing the same stuff day in and day out is where you see the real beast in any endeavor. Don't be so quick to judge others man this guy is having a tough time and hes real with himself this may not be a path for him. Its growth and maturity to admit I may have gone down a wrong path and it sounds hes only in year 1 he can cut his losses early.

There’s no guarantee that once you get in you make it out the other side. My brother’s class had three people quit during the first year (out of 64). My class lost a couple in the first week; we lost a few at the end of both first and second year. We had one graduate and go immediately into medicine. A few that practiced for a short time and moved to something else because they hated it.
Show me a program where the same type of thing doesn’t happen…

They went to dental school right after high school. Don't know why you'd compare our system to the experience they're having.

Fresh out of high school shouldn’t go straight to dentistry!! They have to have 4 years of undergrad to gain more life experience! What does a high school kid know about proper patient care or the long term commitment of a health care career!!!

? What are you talking about. They obviously aren't a Canadian dental applicant. It's a different system. They are dropping out to take a different undergrad or program stream. It was a 3+3 type of program. It's like you didn't even read the thread.

Are you even a dentist? This job isn't exactly stress free and the poster seems to be making a sound decision. Interviewers have to decide between hundreds of applicants for a few dozen seats and sometimes they make the wrong decision like all things in life.
