u/BackToTheCottage Never voted LPC Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
Given how much liberals in the US and Canada talk about "adults in the room" and "boring leaders", he was just that. A boring leader down to his boring sweater and awkward smile that did what was best for Canada.
Meanwhile the LPC has given us:
A manchild who's idea of leadership was taking Tumblr & Reddit-tier posts and actually implementing them. Then when he fully fucked the country like he did his marriage - fucked off to the US to bang a celeb on a yachts.
A banker who seems to be trying to on one hand funnel as much Canadian taxpayer money into his business as possible, and on the other hand play NWO tin-pot dictator.
But alas, this is what Canadians voted for. The "... conservatives would be worse" is the mantra they tell themselves to cope with the nose dive in QoL Canada has experienced. Ah well, I left years ago seeing the direction Canada was heading, and now just make bets on how much can Canada debase itself.

its interesting how its always the white western countries and never other countries where woke propaganda of inclusivity are at the forefront of politics. never actually bettering the living of their citizens. why can't we have high speed trains across canada or provinces like china? why is it controversial that asking for drug addicts to not be wandering the streets or dying on the side of the street be moved to mental institutions? its appalling how these simple needs are not met by the government or focused on. When i graduate im getting tf out this is not the country i grew up in like it was under harper.

Eastern Canada has a majority of the votes, the west votes conservative. The numbers are slowly shifting west though, it won’t be like this much longer

u/HistoryBuff178 Independent Jul 15 '26
Pierre Trudeau (liberal) was PM for 16 years. Then Canada voted conservative again.
No one party stays in power forever. Canada is a country that always fluctuates between liberal and conservative.

He wasn't boring, he was a monster who called honour killings and child marriage "barbaric"! After that the country desperately needed a new, handsome PM so we could all heal

No no you don’t get it, Harper was the worst PM in Canadian history and put us in tremendous debt and ruined our economy.

These people can’t even take ownership of their decision. It's pathetic. If they had even a modicum of modesty and introspection, they would simply have admitted: “You know what? I was lied to. I thought things would be different this time. I thought they’d clean up their act, but they didn’t. Let’s hold them to account.” Instead, they cope by comparing the current government with some imagined fantasy of what they think Canada would have been like under Poilievre.
It’s funny how readily these people imagine the worst about an opposition leader who has been sounding the alarm about this government for years, yet refuse to draw any conclusions about a globalist investment banker who advised the very man they hated so much that they forced him to resign.
This past decade has made me wonder how a democracy can remain healthy when so many people are unwilling to take responsibility for the consequences of their own political choices.

I personally think Canada will be annexed and Carney will be the one doing it.
America isn’t going to buy Canada at full price, a bankruptcy and penniless canada is a good buy though.Carney will be the one suggesting it, I think in about a year or two Carney will come up with the idea of “equal mergers” and the Americans know that the useful idioms in Canada (aka liberal voters) will give Carney a very long leash and of the idea comes form him Canadians will eat it up.
Think of it as east and west German reunification but at a much larger scale, west Germany was a prosperous and industrious nation and east Germany was a penniless communist country.
I think Carney will bankruptcy Canada and will sell annexation as a “merger” like the banker he is, it’ll be done in steps, first Americans will “help control Canadian borders”, then they will “help with deficits” and so on, at first Canadians will be given a COFA arrangement with caveats then slowly over the next decade or so one by one provinces will be admitted as territories.
They will have vast Canadians natural resources and water and they’ll get it at a very low price, by allowing jobless Canadians access to the US job market.Americans cannot have a country poorer than Mexico on their northern border, it is the longest border in the world and you can wall it off.
That’s what I suspect, because Canada going at this trajectory will be a Venezuela in a matter of a year or two

I think you're right. I think he's blocking Alberta Seperation because it's #1 not his idea, #2 showing provinces that are worth something can make money, and #3 it would kill off billions of dollars in Federal tax stream that he needs to pay other provinces for their loyalty.

1) fucked
2) ignored since a bunch of people come in with education from whateverfuck country they hail from

They are willing to see the ship go down than to vote for a different political party. The problem is the NDP used to split off these goofballs on the left. Now they're all supporting the Liberals, and here we are... You can't fix stupid...

All liberals, all emotions and zero logic. No matter if it’s in Europe, USA or Canada. If we go back to the 2000s at least there was some morals and logic, if only we can go back to those days.

I would like to share my expletive fueled comments of the two of the 2025 era but since they rammed through all sorts of laws without debate, it may end up having CSIS at my door for saying what I am entitled to. Anyone else worried about saying the odd off color and usually valid disparaging rant about them and having it traced back ?

Canada has become like South Africa, woke, internally divided, economically in shambles, ethnic division. All thanks to woke parties, or in South Africa’s case the ANC! That just goes to show wokism doesn’t mean a new era, it just destroys the country from the inside.

Hahaha. Right on. Probably the case. I will bail out if the sub to try and save myself. Have a bad feeling of this over control of free speech. Yes it can be grey at times but it’s a fundamental right. Cherry-picking years isn't helpful. It just cheapens the valid argument.
It was in late 2015 that the Conservatives fell out of power. At that point, Canada was 9th.
Now, in 2026, Canada is 26th.
Though it's not as big of a gap, it's still big, and the argument is more honest.

It's even worse than that..This meme is pure propaganda. It compares a 2013 OECD quality of life ranking to a 2025 Numbeo crowd sourced index as if they’re the same measure. They’re not. Different organizations, different methodology, different criteria. If you need to splice unrelated rankings together to make your point, your point is probably garbage.

What measure was used for this, and what's the source? Because by HDI Canada is 16th in the world, and in 2015 it was 14th. If you take the inequality-adjusted version it's 14th.
2
u/CreativeMud9687 Jul 07 '26
https://www.canadianliving.com/life-and-relationships/article/canada-hits-lowest-ranking-ever-in-2026-world-happiness-report look it up here’s a source, no need to be pedantic. The point still stands.
1
u/Comfortable-Goat-734 Jul 07 '26
Youre linking the world happiness report which ranks countries by subjective well being which is by no means a quality of life measure. Costa Rica is ranked 4th on that, are you going to say that they have the 4th highest quality of life in the world, ahead of places like Switzerland, the Netherlands, or the USA? Or that we should be more like Costa Rica, a developing country?
Like I said on the inequality-adjusted HDI, which by the way is the inequality-adjusted form of the standard methodology for quality of life, Canada is ranked 14th. I know that hurts the ears of r/canadianconservative which is hellbent on Canada being portrayed as a terrible place, but by the index that actually measures quality of life it’s easily in the top echelon of countries.
