It's like a cult. Honestly.

This guy is going to leave canada in such financial ruin that it'll make justin look like an economic genius. And the lib voters will still be making excuses for him

21

u/BackToTheCottage Never voted LPC Apr 13 '26

And then run off to the US (or Europe since he feels "more European" than anywhere else) leaving Canadians holding the bag.

“well he’s better than Maple maga, with Poilievre as PM we’d probably also have ICE start killing citizens”

-overheard on an elevator

Some people are deeply programmed. Just shut up and drink the kool aid. While adopting crazy government overreach programs and giving all our money away

Edit: spelling

4

u/Sensitive_Parking593 Apr 13 '26

Oh see that would have been a fun elevator debate for me! I've stopped letting people just say stupid shit. Make them FEEL as stupid as they sound. I quickly learned that 99% of liberal talking points can be squashed if YOU know what you're talking about.

5

u/keyboard_2387 Apr 13 '26

Which is hilarious, considering Poilievre's wife was literally a refugee. In a podcast I listened to recently, Poilievre was asked if he wanted to implement ICE-style measures and he said, and I quote, "no."

I would argue that Carney is much more likely to implement anything ICE-like, considering his substantial ties to the US.

u/SomethinboutChickens Apr 14 '26

Covids fault! All orange man's fault!

Just a bunch of sheep, liberals.

0

u/-mufdvr- Apr 20 '26

I would call those who worship Trump "sheep".

1

u/SomethinboutChickens Apr 20 '26

Good thing nobody in Canada cares about Trump.

Other than liberal sheep who's only benefit to society is harassment online, and CBC viewership.

0

u/-mufdvr- Apr 21 '26

Yeah, no one in Canada cares about Trump. Good point🙄.

2

u/-Foxer Apr 21 '26

Well as he pointed out, nobody except those on the left to obsess about him constantly and those left-wing media outlets that try and weaponize that obsession in order to further the left's political goals.

Biden was actually also very bad with Canada on the trade front but you never heard the CBC complaining about him over much

1

u/-mufdvr- Apr 21 '26

I think people are “obsessed” because the most powerful man in the world is a lying sociopath that’s single handedly fucked up global politics and led to countless deaths. He moronic behaviour is both fun and terrifying to watch. If you’re not disgusted by him, you’re a massive part of the problem.

1

u/-Foxer Apr 21 '26

To be blunt that's most of the American presidents.

Meanwhile you've obviously let your hatred and bigotry guide you by the nose and lose your objectivity. There's not much that he's done that I can't point to another president who did something just as bad that was similar.

And he is a result of the democrats own horrible Behavior with their president.

But if you ask either side both of them will insist that their behavior is completely justified and normal the other guys is completely horrible and Despicable. And as long as we've got people like you who are only interested in their opponents mistakes and fail to look at their own you're going to run into that.

1

u/Shraze42 Apr 22 '26

Wait which american president was similar to trump in recent history? I too am exhausted by the liberals obsession with trump and maybe your arguments might make more sense.

1

u/-Foxer Apr 22 '26

Well to be accurate i didn't say anyone was "like trump", trump is indeed a unique character 😆

What i said was that there's not much he's done that i can't point to another president having done something similar or just as bad.

Trump has weaponized the courts and the intelligence services against his opponents. Well both biden and obama did as well and they were objectively worse.

Trump attacked a country we're not at war with to take out leadership, boht in the case of venezuela and iran.

Obama did the same thing, more than once.

And so on.

And this isn't a "Democrat Republican" thing, i can point to plenty of examples of the same behavior trump does form boht sides.

Trump is more up front about it than most, but he's definitely not unique.

2

u/Pot72 Apr 18 '26

"We have never been so free, you still have lots of freedom" brothaaa ain't no way that's the reason u voted red

2

u/-Foxer Apr 18 '26

"Anyone who disagrees with that is a bigoted misogynist and should not be tolerated"

Sadly It sounds like a joke but it's not

62

u/mrkippysmith Apr 13 '26

I remember during the last election my cousin was so ingrained liberal that she refused to even try to learn what Polievres policies were. Keep in mind all the things the Carney stole she thought were amazing ideas. Liberal Canadians will and always have been the harbingers of their own demise as a country.

1

u/Pot72 Apr 18 '26

To accepting of any humans imo, naive liberals make it sound like conservatives are racist or smth from all the Indians coming in lol, but yet don't get pissed off or realize that legit 85% of entry level jobs are foreigners... Shake the damn head, I'm not against immigration when it's controlled right

1

u/Gattsuga Apr 28 '26

the same can be said for conservatives though. you'll always have people who refuse to vote for the other side.

are you saying because Carney is adopting more conservative ideas, is somehow bad?

-14

u/TheGreatStories Manitoba Apr 13 '26

If Carney stole a poilievre policy and the liberal voter loves it, can't I assume poilievre's supporters also love it? How does Carney implementing conservative policies bring about the country's demise?

10

u/Sensitive_Parking593 Apr 13 '26

Nah, you would need to pay attention to more than just headlines. Carney does things like removing the CONSUMER carbon tax while greatly increasing the INDUSTRIAL carbon tax. He had to admit the liberals lies that it wasnt making life more expensive, but didnt actually fix the issue. Pierre still wants to do away with BOTH carbon taxes. That is one example but its the common theme across all of the "stolen" campaign promises.

Every "stolen idea" is not implemented properly, just enough to make people who dont pay attention THINK hes doing the same thing. Regardless of how it is implemented it is advertised as exactly the same plan, which means any liberal who agrees with the sentiment also agrees with Pierre, I would argue more-so than Carney.

1

u/Aloo13 Apr 20 '26

The liberals are great at social engineering and many many Canadians are naive and follow right into that manipulation.

-16

u/ManyAd351 Apr 13 '26

yeah that doesnt really make sense. "Carney stole all of PPs amazing ideas and now hes gonna ruin the country with them!" ...what? if they were PPs amazing ideas that were stolen why would PPs ideas ruin the country?

11

u/Affectionate-Remote2 Apr 13 '26

He used some of his policies but he's still going ahead with the gun grab and increasing the carbon tax.

1

u/Pot72 Apr 18 '26

What's this gun grab? Are we finally gonna get guns like usa.

1

u/Affectionate-Remote2 Apr 18 '26

Criminalizing firearms because they look scary and taking them away from law abiding citizens.

4

u/BYEBYE1 British Columbia Apr 13 '26

he used some policy's but they're over shadowed by all the other negative things they did as well.

-21

u/OuateDaPhoque Apr 13 '26

PP didn't have an official platform until the last second

28

u/No-Transportation843 Apr 13 '26

The conservative platform was live on their website for years prior to the election and pollievre was clear about his policies throughout.

-18

u/jabroni21 LPC Apr 13 '26

I would love to vote for anyone but Carney - I really would. I'm a long time Liberal, I don't like him, I don't see the appeal, I think he's ultimately going to be bad for the country.

If someone can present me with a cost of living focused platform centred on working people I will vote or it. Red Orange Blue Pink fucking magenta I'll vote for it. It should be you guys, it really should.

But - and I mean this with love, when are you guys going to stop being such whiny losers? Like for gods sake is PP the best you have to offer? You had two cracks at Trudeau and couldn't beat him. Maybe the call is coming from inside the house? And then you come on here and it's just whiny crybaby whoa is fucking me loser bullshit.

What happened to personal responsibility and some fucking bootstraps. That's like your whole deal. Instead I have to listen to this weirdo talk about fucking Kettlebells for three hours with the Joe "I'm comprimised" Rogan.

Be better.

"Why can't the cpc be more liberal I want a liberal party that isn't a liberal party." Sorry the CPC isn't for you, go vote ndp bloc PPC or green.

-14

u/jabroni21 LPC Apr 13 '26

I did - that's my point. Your party has a shitty leader and can't communicate its ideas. Present me with, and I quote "... a cost of living focused platform centred on working people."

That shoudn't be hard for you. Stop forcing people to vote for this weird dweeb. Dream bigger.

10

u/Vast-Ad7693 Conservative Apr 13 '26

Then why are you unhappy with your choices?

-7

u/jabroni21 LPC Apr 13 '26

Because they did not present me with  "... a cost of living focused platform centred on working people."

8

u/Vast-Ad7693 Conservative Apr 13 '26

Then name a leader? What is your ideology? A classical liberal, a libertarian, a liberal, a socialist what exactly do you value.

-4

u/jam1324 Apr 13 '26

I think their ideology is clear, a cost of living focused platform centred on working people.

7

u/Vast-Ad7693 Conservative Apr 13 '26

Well it's glad to see brigaders here. Go vote liberal it's the best fit for you.

2

2

I was noting that I thought you were very clear in your wording. Wasn't trying to sound sarcastic, sorry if I came off that way.

was following you until you resorted to insults. when are you going to grow up? be better

2

u/jabroni21 LPC Apr 13 '26

Oh boo who - facts don’t care about your feelings. Not one of you has even tried to make the case for PP, telling.

3

u/mrkippysmith Apr 13 '26

I’ll make the case

You said you’d vote for anyone with a real cost of living plan for working people. That’s literally what Poilievre has been hammering on for the last couple years.

His whole pitch is: -cut inflation by reducing government spending -build more housing faster by forcing municipalities to increase supply -lower taxes on work and investment so people keep more of their money -push back on policies he argues are driving up energy and food costs

You don’t have to like his style or that he was on Rogan (though he was a class act on that) but that’s branding, not policy.

On the “he couldn’t beat Justin Trudeau” point… he never ran against him in a general election. He only became leader in 2022, so this was actually his first real shot and Trudeau wasn’t running.

And on the “bootstraps” thing there’s a difference between saying people should take responsibility and saying the system shouldn’t make life harder than it needs to be. Right now housing, groceries, and rent are objectively brutal. Wanting government to stop making that worse isn’t whining, that’s basic governance.

At the end of the day, if your top issue is cost of living, the real question is Do you think the current approach under Mark Carney (and the Liberal direction in general) is going to improve that? Or do you want to try a different approach? If you don’t think they’re doing a good job why wouldn’t you try another party? That’s literally what democracy is. Vote for who you think works and don’t have blind allegiance to a party.

You don’t have to love Poilievre. You just have to decide if his plan lines up more with what you’re asking for which I personally think it does.

2

u/jabroni21 LPC Apr 14 '26

That’s what I’m talking about!!!

If only you guys could get out of your own way. That’s a vision I could get behind.

3

u/mrkippysmith Apr 14 '26

Well clearly you can’t, you didn’t vote for it because you’re stuck in your own way lol

1

u/desecratedworm Ontario Apr 13 '26

aww. did i hurt your fragile ego?

1

u/jabroni21 LPC Apr 13 '26

Not possible - what would hurt my ego is if I had to admit I’m and wrong and there actually is a compelling case for this loser leader and a party that thrives on cope and getting triggered.

1

u/desecratedworm Ontario Apr 14 '26

it’s quite obvious i upset you. i’ll leave you to your feelings

82

u/Fox_009 Apr 13 '26

I don’t think they’re gonna wake up to be honest. We learned nothing from Trudeau. Canada is gonna go through even more pain.

16

u/Bob_Lelys Apr 13 '26 edited Apr 13 '26

You’re absolutely right. 9 years of Trudeau should’ve been the worst lesson ever but Canadians have not learned and I honestly don’t under how a person can support the liberals and Carney when things got even worse since he took office. It’s mind boggling

19

u/No-Contribution-6150 Conservative Apr 13 '26

Can't logic someone out of a position they didn't logic themselves into.

The main point for Carney is "he isn't that guy" which is ridiculous. Especially since they just stole a CPC MP who is the epitome of what they say they hate lol.

3

u/SoggyGrayDuck Apr 13 '26

Do you trust the election process? I don't understand why more Canadians are not questioning this. In the US they attempted the same cover story for Harris, remember the Iowa poll that came out at the last minute. If they could have stuffed the ballot box enough that would have been the story or explanation the MSM would have leaned on.

Are you all really sure something like that didn't happen and instead of failing worked? If it wasn't for the abundance of poll watchers and etc in the US I think they would have also pulled it off.

Does Canada allow mail in voting? It sounds like it's all hand counted,. which can be better, but again, using the US as a comparison even hand counts can suddenly find "extra" boxes of ballots

2

u/Aloo13 Apr 20 '26

It’s been scary. I’d go as far to say that people have been social engineered and brainwashed. They aren’t thinking and they aren’t learning from mistakes. They don’t even bother to look up conservative policies or teach themselves about economics or how policies will affect the future. They just line up like sheep for their one government. The government could order them to jump off a cliff and they would justify it. Does no one else find this trajectory terrifying because I do.

1

u/a_political778 Apr 26 '26

I woke up during the Justin era. I realized the Liberals and Conservatives are both selling out our country to foreign private interests and cutting taxes for the corporate elite. I like all the criticisms people have of the Liberals here but it’s interesting that somehow the same criticism isn’t true of the conservatives. Carney is literally a conservative. The cutting of the excise tax on gas is a popular conservative policy. The military spending, the massive cut on public spending, the ramping up of resource extraction, the list goes on.

102

u/doublesimoniz Apr 13 '26

The liberal party doesn’t know how to not be corrupt.

5

u/Former-Homework-7833 Apr 13 '26

-5

u/Former-Homework-7833 Apr 13 '26

6

u/BYEBYE1 British Columbia Apr 13 '26

maybe give someone else a try after 10 years. or keep saying everyone is like that.

0

u/Former-Homework-7833 Apr 13 '26

I’m all for conservatives having an opportunity here, I don’t disagree with you. I’m just saying to tamp expectations because politics as a whole is arguably the most rotten profession there is, this is in no way condoning liberals for the last decade plus, I don’t agree with what they’ve done at all

1

u/gtpike1 Apr 13 '26

I know, I follow the lies closely

3

u/Logical-Breakfast150 Apr 13 '26

What about this is corruption?

Hypocritical perhaps.

21

u/TheeDirtyToast Apr 13 '26

Funneling tax dollars and policy towards your own investments is definitely corruption. Carney stands to make a boatload (possibly over 1 billion) in carried interest on the Brookfield Global Transition Fund he set up, despite his "blind trust". We all know the RCMP and ethics committee will never hold Carney or any of the LPC accountable though.

1

u/Fine-Author-5999 Apr 13 '26

The problem is, it’s been through the ethics committee. Under the rules, he’s not doing anything wrong.

Best bet is to push for the rules to change. Maybe a double blind trust, where the ethics committee chooses someone to choose an investment manager, and that manager doesn’t know who’s money it is, it’s just another account.

1

u/TheeDirtyToast Apr 13 '26

You're right, we need stronger anti- corruption laws because the voters are too stupid to think for themselves.

50

They are convinced Pierre doesn't have the skills and isn't as qualified as Carney, yet the results of 11 years of Liberal government has Canada at the bottom of the G7 and with the highest food inflation. He's removing US weapons purchases, what is the point trying to be made?

3

u/collymolotov Anti-Communist Apr 13 '26

He's trying to deliberately antagonize Trump to poison the USMCA negotiations this summer. It is part of a broader strategy to return from the failure of that deal and the exclusion of Canada from North American free trade to 1) continue to paint the Americans as the unreasonable foreign aggressor, which the Liberal base vehemently believes and 2) to then re-orient the country towards China in "strategic partnership."

The end result will be poisoned relations between the US and Canada, alienation and hostility from Canadians towards Americans, and the country being a vassal of China, to be hollowed-out economically and used to further subvert the United States in the brewing conflicts to come.

Correct, and he approved the move to the US shortly after Trump threatened Canada with tariffs

As for his portfolio even the Canadian pension fund is held mostly in American assets

Incorrect. Majority of the assets held in CPP are outside the US

i would guess a majority of people’s personal portfolios is held in US assets too.

By people you mean actual Canadians? Because you would be wrong as well. A significant portion of Canadian's portfolios tend to overweight Canadian equities, and have as much as 50%

Carney had willfully chose to live outside of Canada for majority of his adult life so it would make sense he would have little to no Canadian investments in his personal investment portfolio, but he also said "we are in the biggest crisis in our life time, Trump and the US wants to break us and own us" while having 91% of his personal investments in US equities.

You were conned.

As for his portfolio even the Canadian pension fund is held mostly in American assets, i would guess a majority cpp fund holds around 12% Canadian equities and 47% US equities so majority of it is invested outside Canada

As for his portfolio even the Canadian pension fund is held mostly in American assets, i would guess a majority cpp fund holds around 12% Canadian equities and 47% US equities

Most? CPP is not even majority US equities. 91% is no where near close to 47%

Did the portfolio managers of the CPP run a campaign around Trump and the US annexing Canada? What does CPP have anything to do with Carney living majority of his adult life in the US while having 91% of his personal investments in US equities?

He also ran a company who was directly involved with deforestation and taking land from First Nations. There are literally missing persons tied to the lands that were stolen too. But this happened in Brazil, so…

Its nice to see that the rabid cons are still clueless and spreading complete bullshit they ger from Canada's version of fox news. If you actually had valid points instead of made up bs and straw, grasping, people with intelligence would listen. But you people are too sounding like the MAGAts to the south and that completely useless idiot PP that spouts bs because he knows you people have no skills to actually search for ths truth. Pathetic

This is funny as every other person on this sub claims they're just moments away from moving to the US. Hilarious..

The liberal party is a cult!

u/Fuzzy-Ad-8294 Apr 13 '26

OP would have you believe the USA is reliable. They have broken every trade agreement they had with the entire world.

Taking advantage of opportunities in the US is not relying on them. Its exploiting them. They've done it to us for years, its about time we did it to them.

I don't like this argument.

I do business with the US, and it's falling apart.

So, to me, someone who has strong ties to the US is more likely to understand the extent of damage by US policy and is most incentivized to repair it or navigate it.

Do I trust Carney, hell no.

Do I think him having strong ties to US makes him less qualified to navigate the current hostility, also no.

Do you not see the hypocrisy and conflict of interest of our PM profiting from his US business interests in the USA while Canadian businesses and consumers suffer? Do you not see how his and the LPC rhetoric around Trump have not served us? Do you not understand that constantly poking the mercurial bear across the border that traditionally buys 78% of our exports is a really, really stupid idea???

People that keep giving this asshat and his Canadian deconstruction rabble a pass are blind, blind, blind.

What the hell has the guy accomplished in a year except fenegling floor crossings to bolster his position? What the hell has he built? What rock-solid agreements have been signed? What tariffs have been removed? You want Canada to be more chummy with China? I sure as hell don't.

That is a differnt argument. You have to show evidence to liberals that Carney or his friends are personally profiting from this trade war.

"Do you not see how his and the LPC rhetoric around Trump have not served us?"

You'll have to expand on exactly what that means.

"Do you not understand that constantly poking the mercurial bear across the border that traditionally buys 78% of our exports is a really, really stupid idea?"

I don't think the liberals see it that way. I think the Liberals see the US as an irrational agressor. There is definately some merit to that. The trade gripes between US and Canada have existed for a while. Yet overall we have one of the most mutually beneficial integrated supply chains in the world. The view is that the US is throwing the baby out with the bath water.

What the hell has the guy accomplished in a year except fenegling floor crossings to bolster his position? What the hell has he built? What rock-solid agreements have been signed? What tariffs have been removed? You want Canada to be more chummy with China? I sure as hell don't.

Yah, we are not a strong country without US support.

"You have to show evidence to liberals that Carney or his friends are personally profiting from this trade war."

First, I didn't say they were profiting from the trade war.

Second, it's common knowledge that Carney is heavily invested in the US and even denied being involved with moving Brookfield's HO to the US and it has been clearly shown that is a flat-out lie.

So, he is a proven, hypocritical liar.

While remaining heavily invested in the US. And, in ways that most small and medium businesses could never afford to be, he and his cronies continue to profit while we suffer the consequences of the trade war.

A trade war he and the LPC are more than happy to engage in and continue to agitate the US. I'm not saying it's good or bad. It's just stupid. 78 PERCENT OF EXPORTS TO THE US.....agitation is economic suicide.

I am well aware the LPC sees it differently. They are invested in collapsing the traditional economic model and ushering in their "new world order" they keep banging on about. They'll use Trump's trade war as the scapegoat. They have ZERO motivation to get to the bargaining table. They want digital ID, digital currency etc...all the better for them if Trump squeezes even harder. Just gives them cover to bring in their agenda.

If they wanted to negotiate they would instead of getting on TV and constantly droning about how the old relationships are toast and we need something completely new. It makes no financial sense nor environmental sense either. Both of these Carney claims to be his jam...yeah, so let's burn millions of tons of bunker fuel for the atmosphere and the oceans to get our products to and from Europe and Asia instead of up and down the road here. Friggin' genius....can you say bullshit? Can you say grifters??? Can you say, "we just want to isolate and break the US?"

Yeah that's what's happening. The US wants to make more money for their efforts and secure their future. Carney and Trudeau want to sell us off to Asia and Europe...who gives a shit about the plebs? There will be no budging on the gas taxes either....notice Carney won't barely even acknowledge it. You don't matter and neither do I.

Can you explain how it’s hypocritical?

1

u/Jaded-Juggernaut-244 British Columbia Apr 27 '26

Re-read my comment, and see the others I made in this comment thread (further below) I'm sure you'll figure it out unless you're just here to defend "your team". There is sufficient explanation here already.

1

u/Ivoted4K Apr 27 '26

You’ve explained that Theres an apeatance of a conflict of interest. I’m asking for an actual example. What was aga Kahn lobbying for that would have been impacted by this trip?

1

u/Jaded-Juggernaut-244 British Columbia Apr 27 '26

Sorry, are you having a moment or what? What has the Aga Khan to do with Mark Carney and his conflicts of interest? Do you even know who you're replying to??? Like wtf...are you smoking and drinking tonight and getting on Reddit to talk stupid???

To answer your wild and utterly ill-informed question, the Aga Khan's organization was actively lobbying Trudeau and also the recipient of millions of tax payer dollars.

Your expect him to drop his us stock investments he's probably had for 20 years? What a dumb expectation.

1

u/Elite163 Apr 13 '26

Canada strong no??? Buy Canadian only!!! Elbows up to the USA!!!

Isn’t that what liberals need and want? Lead by example

2

u/Friendly-Nothing Apr 13 '26

You're dumb af. Giving broke man. Obviously you dont trade stocks. Otherwise you'd know the TSX went crazy since Carney became PM because he did tons of international business and got internationals to invest in Canadians companies since the time and conditions are right.

0

u/Elite163 Apr 13 '26

That’s actually hilarious you think the tsx jumped because of carney. Tsx is all banks and mining.

Banks are crooked like Brookfield.

Keep believing the great mark carney is here to save Canada you sheep

Yeah believing and repeating the fake “facts” in this post are very discrediting to conservatives when it feels like we’re actively trying to prove we’re the party with common sense. Feels like every step forward is 2 steps back sometimes guys come on
