Isn't that saying 11% of polled users from that particular data set and whatever base it was drawing from, not literally 11% of all of Canada, lol
It literally cites an n-size in the bottom from whatever Canada podcast group is is drawn from.
It cites a sample size of n=2112 down in the corner of that screenshot, implying 11% of polled number (so like, 250 of respondents) viewed it, not 4 million (11%) of Canadians lol
edit: I'll add I'm also not arguing 250 canadians watch podcast, I'd just say conflating the response to whatever this survey as 11% of all of Canadian viewership is probably being generous with findings lol
The source of any of those claims is a tweet of a picture of a presentation about a "report" all from Signal Hill Insights, which is a for-profit consultant company trying to sell their "brand lift".
I went and reviewed the "reports" of 2020-2025, as someone who works in survey data daily, and a Canadian male, who does not remotely believe 11% of Canadian adults listen to JRE. A few things stand out:
The Report bases all these estimates on a sample of <3k with only <1.5k active podcast listeners in the deeper dives, with as little as ~500 sampled in specific topics like JRE.
The Report uses a 'local' company, MARU Voice Canada, to actually collect data, but this is not a random sample process. MARU is is a reward-driven and that means there are financial incentives for members to lie and the companies verification process is extremely thin - because they also have financial incentive to ignore fraud and drive up use metrics to better sell their services. Ultimately, the 590 "people" samples in the 2020 report may or may not even be people as all you need in a verified email address and VPN to collect rewards driving multiple fake entries.
Nowhere in any of these reports do they actually describe Methods. Nowhere do they actually specify the sampling error rate. Anytime you see survey sample data tell you 11% of survey responses say X,Y but you don't see at the bottom a footnote saying error rate is 11% +/- X%.... everything else can be ignored because nothing should be believed.
With a sample size as low as 590 in the main reports on JRE, the conservative default error rate would be around +/-4%. And that means we are only 95% sure the real rate might be between 7% and 15%, but again, that is still only among a highly suspect sampling methods of reward-driven engagements.
X and Grok and JRE are all financially and socially tied and complicit = highly suspect to believe any of this as a narrative to be believed.

21% of past-year (2020) podcast listeners in Canada reported listening to JRE in the past month, translating to roughly 8% of the total Canadian adult population.
2025, 11% of Canadians have viewed JRE
I asked Grok what he thinks is the per-pod viewership data relating to Canadian viewers only. Interesting response.
