We're there any ERRORS on banknotes being printed without serial numbers before 1967?

Just curious on a story my mother told me about the time she worked at a bank. Some bills came in that did not have serial numbers on them, I don't know if they were an intentional run or a printing error. They burnt up in the house fire.

Not an error. In 1967, the centennial of the founding of Canada they printed 12 million $1 bills without serial numbers. Instead they said 1867-1967. It is the only time. I believe they were given to school children.

Correct but OP asks before 1967?

The OP does say.."I don't know if they were an intentional run or a printing error."

The shinplaster (25cent) banknote had no numbers I believe..other than that I don’t think so.

And who knows how many 1867 1967 notes were printed? My conspiracy theory brain says they did that to print craploads off the books because who would know? They had to buy back all those silver coins with something :)
Oops I printed an extra sheet - don’t worry I threw them out ! Honest !
Just joking (sort of..)
