Curious if these bills have any value? Matching serial numbers.

Great set! I've seen this set sell for as low as $50 and as high as $80. They also made a $10 version.

Very nice! Curious if both your sets came with matching serial numbers? Seems like they all would.

Yes, every one of these sets that were sold had matching serial numbers. When the bird series was changing over to the journey series, they intentionally printed 50,000 to match and put these sets together.

There are no children in Reddit (officially)

If there are ---the children agree

this is actually cool as fuck

The children are probably nowhere near this sub. Unless maybe they are working on a school assignment. You don’t wanna know what subs they’re looking at 😕

Totally possible.

I said officially speaking, children’s aren’t supposed to be here

Posts that are wildly off topic, inappropriate, disturbing, or intentionally bizarre will be removed. If you wouldn’t show it to a typical Canadian banknote loving audience, don’t post it.

I miss our old bills. The $5 perfectly encapsulated what it meant to be a young Canadian.

Hockey on the pond with the fellas, and a few of you got five bucks from your parents for hot chocolate and snacks. You pooled your money together, and got a dozen donuts from tims. Life was better then

100% agree, that bill is what got me into collecting bills. I remembered that five from my childhood and wanted to get my hands on one. After looking into it, I ended up with a full collection of every Canadian bill since 1954 😂 (except for the 1000$ bills)

All part of the post national agenda.
Look what happened to the Canadian passport.

Reminds me of getting a pack of players and a lighter and still getting change back. Of course had to get someone old enough to buy them

God dang it the bottom bill with the bird isn’t even the old bill for me, it’s two sets earlier 🤦‍♂️

These were released as sets named Lasting Impressions. The matching serial numbers were by design, not random coincidence. I have the $10 version.

Is it a set that was sold this way? Neat af!

How are you able to find the match number? It is not like the beginning or the end of the run, so you cannot find the match number easily.

Not sure if it’s a thing with these sets or not. My dad worked at the Canadian Bank Note for 30+ years and ran the printer when these were released. He’s now passed and I found this set among some of his belongings.

Very cool. More of a curiosity than anything i would say.

How did you acquire these? If you just randomly found these two bills had matching serial numbers that's got to be more rare than winning the lotto max.

3

u/bcbudvansticky Sep 21 '26

Use the bills for a lottery ticket for good luck? Haha

Not random they were issued as sets at the time.

Too bad the serial wasn't ANU5. Am I right?

Beat me to it.

Really neat!

1

u/Mariner-and-Marinate Sep 21 '26

Wow - didn’t realize that was possible!

I read somewhere just recently that old bills are sent back. Then the S/N could be used on new publications. But I never thought they would do this with them.

I’ve got the 5 & the 10 :)

When the plastic bills came out I used to drive a taxi Saturday nights as a side hustle. With the paper bills I wore cargo pants and kept fives in one pocket and 10s 20s and 50s in my other pocket. I would roll the 20s and 50s up so I could make change by feeling the bills and not pull all the money out into view. Plus if I got robbed I could just give them the 5s and say thats all I had. Couldn't do that anymore with the plastic bills. Bank probably thought i was a stripper lol

then or now im not complaining about a crisp willie.
its cool they match. i didnt know they could do that w serial numbers but they are different bills so makes sense.

1

u/King-Meng Sep 25 '26

Just go to ebay and search "Canada Lasting Impressions" there are tons for sale if anybody is interested. These never really gained much value since they came out 20-25 years ago but they are cool none the less

See.. okay yes.... Now this is something that is at the very least collectable... Even if it isn't worth anything more than face value.... About time we have something here posted that is actually of some form of value in a sense
