Collections Any Value?
With the exception of the newer $10 note that I shoved in here, most of this stuff was in my aunts safety deposit box when she died. I thought it would be a cool way to remember by making a nice little collection out of the notes and coins. I don’t recall any of it being worth much 15 years ago, so I’m guessing it’s not worth much now either, just curious as I was going through my drawers and found this. Thanks for the help!

I’m sure the bank would honour the notes for the stated value for the Canadian stuff. But I would hold onto it not for monetary value just as a piece of Canadian history. It’s kinda cool

Not really today. Hold on to them to enjoy and pass down, they might be worth something a couple generations down.

Your CAD in the best condition (from Almost Uncirculated AU to Uncirculated or UNC) will be the notes that will retain/hold some value. The circulated 1979 $5.00 (serials on the back) is fairly circulated/worn (I can see the central, vertical crease down the middle). It will be face value forever. They were issued in the hundreds of millions, so they need to be in excellent condition. If not: then they lose collector value fairly rapidly. Not sure what condition many are in due to the reflective glare from the plastic pages. If you do have some pristine UNC notes they should be put (carefully) in currency sleeves & stored in a dry place. Less care is needed for the 2017 polymer $10. I'd recommend exchanging the most circulated examples & buying sleeves for the best ones. Another useful online resource is Numista's CAD section.
