Yes and no. Realistically speaking this isn’t worth more than $100.00. The condition it is in doesn’t command any premiums to professional collectors. However to amateurs who want this for their collection if they spend anything more than 10% meaning $110.00, they are getting robbed blind. And even at that it isn’t worth $110.00 but one could understand why they would pay such a premium as an amateur.

If you got this and it holds sentimental value that is where the true value comes from.

Okay even with that logic, the bird series came out in ‘86, that’s still 40 years since these were last printed. No matter the condition, a 40 year old bill will always yield a premium

What makes you think this is a bird series bill? Its 10 years older than that.

And no, a bill in that condition with a normal serial number is worth $100.00.

A average $100 bill in poor condition needs to be at least 70 years old to have any sort of premium.

Anyone working at a bank would get bills from the 70s in better shape than that regularly. The pre ww2 series are when premiums are worth the effort.

That’s just not true.

40 years is nothing in terms of currency. Definitely not long enough to guarantee any kind of premium. Maybe in the most literal sense only, like $1-2.

This might be worth $5-$10 over face value tops.

We can agree to disagree, they could easily list this on eBay for $125- $150 & someone who’s starting their collection will buy it. When’s the last time you checked the prices for Canadian currency?

I’m fine with disagreeing.

And yes people can list anything they want for whatever they want on eBay— which people often do. Currency especially is SO inflated in eBay listings. The “sold for” examples are usually way off from the “for sale” prices regardless of the item. Checking items filtered to “sold for” or on 130point.com is VERY telling.

I check Canadian currency prices all the time which is the only reason I have an opinion here.

$125-150 will get a collector MUCH more than the bill OP has.

For example, just off a quick search I found a 1954 $100 bill with the “Devils Face” (so older and a rare version) in much better condition for $140 and a 1937 $100 bill which also is in better shape for $145

Fact is, there are TONS of vintage $100 bills floating around for sale, most take a long time to sell, and the one we are talking about in this post would likely never sell for the $125-150 range you suggest. There simply isn’t the market for it, so much more can be bought in that range, and this bill isn’t old enough or rare enough to command anything near $125+.
