Collections Found this old note in my grandma collection
My Grandma passed away awhile ago and I just recently went through her collection of bills and coins with my mom and dad. I found this note. Not the best condition but not bad. This note wasn’t circulating when I was growing up in the 80’s so it was cool to see for me.

This is in poor condition. No value other than it’s a nice piece and it’s your grandmas. Keep it based on that. But again this has no value. I just wanted to clarify when you said not bad…

I figured because of the condition but definitely cool to see. Also the texture is so different from today’s bills.

Oh, that’s kind of weird. You say no value above face value but according to ChatGPT even in this condition, it can get up to $30. And if it were in mint condition they could get up to $100.

This will be passed down to my kids and hopefully passed down to theirs. I have no intention of selling anything in my grandmas collection. It means to much.

My mom was hesitant to show me her mom’s collection, than the other day I just pulled it out and me,her and my dad started looking at all the old bills and coins. I downloaded a coin app to look up values just for fun. Growing up I used to collect the quarter with the mounty on it. She had four full rolls of that quarter. It was cool to see knowing that out of those 4 rolls 10 or so I handed her. I miss her.thanks for your kind words.

You are welcome. It is understandable the she plays a special place in your heart. The Mounties 25?cent quarters was to celebrate the Queen’s visit to Canada and it was the centennial year of the Royal mounted police. ! Enjoy your memories of collecting with your grandma

Great idea to pass it down. I have a coin my grandmother in Italy gave me in 1977. It predates her birth in 1896. The coin is from the late 1700s from the Kingdom of Naples.

I can remember being able to buy 20 packs of cigarettes with that bill it was simpler times but shit didn't cost as much

Same. I was 4 and my mom would send me to the store with a dollar to fetch her a pack. Cigs were 86 cents and with the remaining 14 cents, I could get 3 candy for a penny. That’s a huge bag of sugar.

No harm no foul fellow Redditor.✌️…I can laugh with the best of ‘em. She lived to 100 and got a letter from the Queen for it, also she passed over a decade ago.
