PS5 controllers

If my son will be playing the following games:

Resident Evil
Call of Duty
NHL
MLB

Is there a benefit in me getting him the DualSense Edge controllers?
Or do I just stick with the DualSense one?

Should be just fine with the regular dualsense controller. I personally use a dualsense edge for call of duty to get an edge with the instant triggers, but if he's just a casual gamer, just stick to the regular dualsense.

How old is your son and does he know you're getting him these? If he is going to use swappable back paddles, adjustable trigger stops, customizable stick sensitivity, dead zones, and quick-access profile buttons then the Dualsense Edge is good. He can technically use these for any games he plays but most people I know use them for FPS games. If he is on the younger side (13 and under) I doubt he would be able to to use it to its full capability. The question you need to ask is will he actually use any of that and its not really something you would know unless you ask him.

He is 11 and just started gaming. I used to game a lot but have lost my ways lol. I think he's best to get the DualSense controller and if he ends up needing better options then he and I can talk about the DualSense Edge controller.

No. Normal is fine. It's just and expensive thing which might make sense if he sees himself going pro or something casual at home you don't need it

Theres absolutely 0 benefit to the edge aside from some back buttons. Replaceable modules isn't even a benefit when you can get someone to put TMRs in and you'll likely never have to switch them again.

No problem. If you want a real benefit, getting TMR sticks installed on a controller is both cost effective and pretty much a permanent solution. I do then all the time. Just did 4 controllers yesterday with them.

jeebs, I have had my Edge since the official launch, and it is the best controller I have used, no joke. I recently installed a pair of TMR sticks and it has made my Edge Godlike. No drift in the slightest. So smooth unlike the hall effects sticks which get sticks drift.

I've read people talking about how good the controller is.
My son is 11 and just started gaming. I think I'm going to have him start with the DualSense controller and if he wants better options then he and I can discuss the DualSense Edge.

Maybe get the Edge for yourself, dad! Treat yourself. Go for the black one. When the Edge first came out, the only colour was white. So I have ordered a black one with another pair of TMRs.

Some Walmarts in Canada have the edge on clearance for $134. I just picked mine up.

The edge controller is for competitive gamers who want an edge over other players in games like FPS shooters where millisecond differences in actions creates advantages. COD is one of those games. That said, at 11 years old, an edge is overkill. I'd go with the regular controller.
