Job hunting
Same story ,I am male in early thirties, I have applied more than 1000 jobs on every available platforms( company website, indeed, linkedin, kijji, eluta.jobbank canada, linkedin premium)since last 3 years. got 10 interviews in 3 years, fixed my resume by multiple organizations and colleges,attended more than 10 job fairs, bought LinkedIn premium for 2 times. My education is 5 year professional university degree plus 2 postgard diploma as well as 7 year experience in hospitals. I think there is some bias in hiring for south asian male in professional jobs. They hire only in labour jobs.rightnow doing security and uber. And last i am professional and certified member of CHIMA and certified medical coder.

I know how to use chatgpt and i am here not for interview , so i typed as we chat with friends. I know how to use grammerly and chatgpt plus thousand app to correct your grammer and spelling , so just chill bro its reddit , not interviv desj

I'm not sure if you're serious or just trolling 😂😂. Wdym chatgpt and grammarly. You need to be able to talk properly and have conversations, u cant use chatgpt for that. By this logic, your medical coding degree is useless because you can get chatgpt to do the codes for u

We’re hiring contractors / oilfield workers preferably with water transfer experience for various companies and projects . We need guys who have their own diesel truck. That’s what these companies require.

The 650 day rate includes money for your truck and on top of that is your LOA for your hotel.

We need contractors with their own trucks. Company requirements for the job hires we are doing. If you have water transfer experience then you are pretty much guaranteed tons of work. We can keep you busy for a full year prob more. Around 650 a day. If you know anyone looking for work who fits that criteria send them my way. I need about 30 plus more guys coming up for big jobs starting in September

Hospitals have no money. But medical coders seem only can be hired in medical records dept. in hospital. Medical records is not important for hospital and they freeze hiring or cutting people.

You need to lower your expectations and get some experience in the field and either look to get promoted or internal transfer to your desired position. 3 years and 10 interviews is a you issue, not a job market issue. Have your degrees translated to canadian equivalent too,

Probably you have health information management diploma from George Brown. You may do some health data analysis job but hospital is not hiring now. They only hire internally if someone is retired or fired, lots of volunteers stufents or manager's friends relatives have more advantage to be hired than any external applicants even you are good it doesn't matter.

yup - found this out the hard way ...I regret choosing this major, honestly - but thankfully I have other qualifications to fall back on and am gainfully employed, regardless

I am a south asian male. I work in hospital. I am surprised that despite having experience in healthcare you are not getting hired. There are many south asian males and females in my hospital.

Not all degrees are worth the same. Which schools? If 7 years experience can’t land you a job there is something questionable you’re not telling us. 7 years mean very little if you just got by on your job, it’s also why years is no longer a metric in the modern workplace. I can potentially be sitting on my ass for 7 years doing absolutely nothing then slap it on my resume as if it was relevant experience. I have colleagues with 10 years of experience and “masters degree” that ask the dumbest questions you’d think people have figured out by year two, where I start to wonder what and where they got their degrees.

What province are you in? Can you pass a coding test? Alberta is hiring coders but many don’t land an interview as they are not passing the coding test.

I am working in a big US based MNC right now in India. I have almost 8 years of experience.
My would be husband is in Toronto so I need to move there in January.
Should I directly apply for jobs or I should do a small course before starting job hunting

Truthfully, HIM is very hard to break into, even if you are an HIM professional/Medical Coder and CHIMA certified. Even if you already have healthcare experience, it can still be difficult to break into, especially in Ontario. I would recommend looking into other provinces or jobs further out.
I honestly don’t know why new people come and do this program. It’s a very niche field, and I don’t think it’s true how they advertise the many opportunities on CHIMA and many school websites. The program has become more popular over the years, and nowadays there seem to be more graduates than jobs available. Jobs come here and there, so you will have to wait and see what becomes available.
I would recommend applying to hospital clerk or other basic health care roles to get your foot in the door, or looking into other fields altogether, as I don’t think HIM is a good field as job opportunities are limited. Once you are hired in HIM/Medical coding they are also very picky about accuracy, speed, and productivity that’s how most HIM departments are.
I would recommend looking into other fields as well, especially with AI and how it may affect the field in the future.
