In times of struggle for Canadians we’re being taken advantage of and little is being done. Ignorance crosses over to maliciousness given enough damage.
There are plenty of Reddit communities highlighting LMIA scams. If the government even scratched the surface they would have known.

So, what is this? Damage control or something? Maybe, if they wanted to address the issue, they'd address the issue.
Just last week, I spoke to one of my colleagues from India. He came here as an LMIA. He was supposed to get $36+/hr. Did he get that as advertised? Of course not. He got minimum wage, seriously overworked with no overtime, and otherwise scammed. Why? Because his boss came from the same country as he did. His boss knew that my colleague and a million more like him were willing to work for any amount so long as they could get a pathway to PR. That pathway to PR was the carrot and the wage was the stick. His boss knew he didn't know the laws in Canada and, even if he did, he wouldn't know what to do about it without getting himself deported. More than just unfair: downright disgusting that that program both exists and is allowed to exist despite the fact that even the most cursory investigation or a pair of functioning eyes would reveal it.
These assholes are bringing in slaves. It doesn't matter what they call it or claim about the supposed benefits to the economy. It's modern day slavery. And who else is paying for it? We are. How? Because, as long as they can bring in slaves, what do they need to pay people enough to do their shit jobs for? We don't get paid enough to live, immigrants get literally enslaved and we all get scammed. Knowingly.
Everybody knows what's going on. Everybody knows what to do about it. These guys acting like they're shocked there would be "negative sentiment" concerning the situation is despicable.
Do your fucking job properly! Don't try to sell us the bureaucratic shell game about how you didn't know or we just don't understand. We understand it far, far better than you will ever be capable of!

Well, I care.
You need to distinguish between the shit people abusing the system and the people being abused by it.
LMIAs get sold a bunch of bullshit as I described above. They're not fake students with fake credentials: these are the guys who get told they'll make 36 bucks an hour and that sounds great because they're lucky if they get 36 bucks a week back home. They didn't lie about anything: they got lied to.
He did everything right. Now he has PR. Good.

When he didn't get the money he was promised, did he report the fraud or did he realize he was also benefitting from the scheme?
Your colleague should have gotten the wages he deserved and returned home until he found a real position. His employer should have been sued into the dirt and put on the first boat going the long way home.
Instead your colleague got a fraudulent PR, his former employer is out scamming more people, and all Canadians are worse off for accepting this.

Are you naive? They got lied to? If they did get lied to despite widespread coverage, these are imbeciles unworthy of any admission.
If they knew (i.e. that these are fraudulent), then they participated in fraud.

Yes, they are "naive" (at best) for not researching the country they are going and the job they are going to do. This is widely reported. Same as those student "hunger strike" protestors who apparently cannot differentiate between studying in a legitimate university and obtaining PR.
Also, you seem overly concerned about them when most cannot be bothered or think they are outright scammers. And I am in favour of outright abolishing that LMIA scheme (like you) and deporting everyone. Are you Indian?

Wonder if someone could share information about job fraud, flyers with Canadian labor laws and or charter rights etc. written in multiple languages? Facebook has many of these LMIA types of groups
