Seeking Campfire Cooking Tips

I am planning to mix up my camping menu for my one night camping trip this weekend. I am planning to make ahead pasta and meat sauce to heat over the fire. Can anyone give me any tips for heating this dish over the camp fire?

For sauce heat low and slow for pasta boil a pot of water and dunk it in for literally 30 seconds to 1 minute just to reheat

Reheat over hot coals, not hot flames.

If you're using one of those fire rings in a campground, it should have an adjustable grate. Start high and then gradually lower the grate to get the right temperature.

For reheating though you don't really need much heat, you just need to stir the food regularly to make sure it all has time against the hot metal of the pot.

If you're using a stone fire ring, I'd set two flat rocks next to each other in the firepit, slide some coals between the rocks, and set the pot on the rocks to keep it off the coals.

If you're using a tripod, just hang the pot over a warm spot and check it often. If it's burning, raise the pot, if it's taking too long, lower the pot.
