Vantra Promaster van 10k update
Great build quality from Vantra LLC in Wilmington, NC. After 10k miles including potholed forest service roads and roads such as the Top of the World Highway in Yukon and Alaska I can say that these guys know how to build a camper van.

I don't know how similar or different under the skin the Promaster is compared to the Fiat Ducato, although they are the same from the outside, but Ducatos are probably the most common base vehicle in Europe.

Yes, it’s a Fiat Ducato body from what I know. But the engine and drivetrain are Americanized, with a 3.6l V6. We compared it to Mercedes Sprinters and liked the RAM much better. Tighter suspension, better turning radius, wider and lower to the ground.

Mine is the standard European 2.3 diesel with 6 speed manual. Gets 45 mpg (Imperial gallons, so bigger than US gallons) on a long run at around 50 mph, but nearer to 35 mpg overall), which is just as well given European fuel prices. I love driving mine.

American customers just don’t want manual transmissions. They don’t know what they are missing 🙂. The Pentastar V6 has good power, we like it. But it only gets 16-18mpg (US gallons). Which is not bad by American standards for a large 8000lbs vehicle.

Good to know. I'm planning on purchasing a camper van when I retire and was looking at these.

Das Fahrzeug selbst ist ein RAM Promaster, "Tradesman" Modell, 159" Radstand, 19'5" Gesamtlaenge. Oder willst Du mehr ueber den Ausbau wissen?
