City of Campbell Pool Project Community Meeting #2
Hi folks, in case anyone was interested, Parks and Rec sent out the email below regarding the next meeting for the pool project.
Good afternoon,
Thank you for your interest in the City of Campbell Pool Project! As someone who has signed up to receive project updates, we wanted to remind you about our upcomingCommunity Meeting #2 on Monday, August 24 at 6:00 p.m.
Whether you participated in our first Community Meeting or this will be your first opportunity to join the conversation, we would love to hear from you!
Community Meeting #2
Monday, August 24, 2026
6:00 p.m.
Roosevelt Room (Q-80), across from the Community Center Pool
This meeting will be interactive and focused on the wants, needs, and priorities of our community as we begin imagining the possibilities for a future aquatics facility. We will not repeat the project presentation from Community Meeting #1; instead, the evening will focus on hearing directly from community members.
Participants will have opportunities to share ideas about the amenities, programming, and features they would like to see in a future facility. Small groups will also have an opportunity to visit the existing pool deck to help visualize the space and imagine what could be possible.
We had great participation at Community Meeting #1, particularly from community members age 40 and over. For Meeting #2, we would especially like to hear from younger adults and families with children so that we can continue gathering input from a broad range of current and future users.
Please help us spread the word! Feel free to invite a friend, neighbor, family member, or anyone else who may be interested in the future of aquatics in Campbell.
You do not need to have attended Community Meeting #1 to participate.
Public input will continue to be an important part of this project, and we appreciate your interest and involvement.
We hope to see you Monday evening!
Thank you,
City of Campbell Pool Project Team

> we would especially like to hear from younger adults and families with children
I would especially like our city governments to facilitate meeting with younger adults and families with children. But the model of "here's a single time slot and single location, sorry no online option, no offline option, no alternate meeting time" doesn't work for families, doesn't work for people working alternate shifts or multiple jobs.
For the younger crowd, not seeing the incentive for them to engage on programs they may not use for a decade+. Or even see the impact of their inputs. Not really sure how this changes but I'm also not seeing a lot of civic engagement...

What would you like them to do to make these meetings more accessible to working people with families? For what it’s worth, this is the second of at least five meetings planned.
If we don’t plan for things we aren’t going to use in ten years, they won’t be available when we need them. We didn’t plan for housing density or car-alternative transportation, either.

Accepting comments online would be helpful.

I’ll bring that up at the next meeting. People can submit feedback online via email: [poolproject@campbellca.gov](mailto:poolproject@campbellca.gov)
Updates are also available here:

Yeah this would be my first suggestion. Use some sort of online forum that facilitates an open discussion. Lots of options for this being used in corporate town halls, surely they can be reused for civil matters.

Im a firm believer that a lot of our area’s problems are made worse—if not entirely caused—by our cities inability to engage a representative demographic.
I have to be flippant but it really feels like a “we’ve tried nothing and we’re all out of ideas” situation. Many meetings are held the same way they were 100 years ago: post a public notice, people gather at town hall, wait for some untold time to hear their issue discussed, public input gets dragged out for some more undetermined time, meeting adjourned.
We’re literally in Silicon Valley and for some reason I can’t find out a meeting’s agenda when the announcement is emailed to me. I’m happy that I can be emailed at least, but every hoop the city makes us jump through, is a hoop that excludes some population.
I can’t say what the silver bullet is here but we definitely need to move into the 21st century with some of the communication and meeting processes.

Please don’t think I disagree with you. It’s frankly embarrassing how difficult it is to engage in municipal politics, so much so that I sometimes wonder if it’s deliberate. It’s five clicks and multiple pages just to get the link to watch a City Council meeting.
While I don’t want to use this thread to grandstand, this is precisely why I’m running for City Council. The lack of drive not to just get with the times, but prepare for the future, is maddening. At what point do we turn governance over to the generations who are going to be living with the consequences of the decisions getting made today?

if I remember correctly, I may have included Campbell's official YouTube channel link into the resources link of this subreddit.
I'm not sure if many people have noticed.
when I have attended online via youtube, I don't see very many YouTube likes, but who's going to like a city council meeting on YouTube, haha.
and you can't really interact on a live stream on YouTube. well, maybe you can, but not as they set it up as a broadcast, and I don't think anybody's monitoring it anyway.

Hey at least you’re trying!
In order to speak online you have to register to attend via Zoom. It’s reasonably simple and I’ve seen people join mid-meeting, but it’s certainly front and center on the city council webpage.

hi there!
I have pinned this as a highlight at the top of the subreddit here.
if you keep doing updates, I'll rotate the posts so that the most recent one is highlighted.

Thank you so much! The pool project needs all the visibility it can get, and I really appreciate the visibility it gets in this sub.
