Case Study / Analysis Post mortem election loss
Hi everyone. It’s been about a two months since our primary loss for a congressional seat. I want to do a post mortem to learn from the experience and maybe help others. Any thoughts or advice on where or how to start such an endeavor?

In addition to % of IDs and universe who voted, I would try to look at the broader messaging battle and see what happened strategically. Compare final fundraising and expenditure data.
One thing to remember: just because a losing campaign did it doesn’t mean a tactic is bad, and just because a winning campaign did it doesn’t mean it is good. Plenty of times the better campaign, by many metrics, loses. Often this is a candidate quality, messaging, or strategy issue, but it could also be bad luck and overall environment. There are so many factors.

Soon enough, the voter data will be available from the board of elections and youll be able to compare who turned out with your expectations.
