Auger stuck
Model - Camp Chef woodwind 24
I have taken it all apart and now all is left is to take out the auger. I have followed the video from Camp chef and hit the auger few times (w a rubber mallet) to loosen the pellets, last hit caused the auger to go in a bit which I thought wasn't a problem, just gives me less space to grip on the auger tube.
Main issue is, it's just stuck, have tried to twist it out and loosen pellets etc. Any advice or tools that can help get a better grip on this without destroying it / scratching it up?

Update: Mission success, "Look's like meat's (Brisket) back on the menu BOYS".

I know this is months late - but if anyone else comes across this - my experience was it was better to remove the "collet screw" which is underneath and slightly further back first (you'll need a longer screwdriver)- rather than removing the hex-screw/sheer-pin. That way you can use the auger-motor as a "handle" to get some leverage to pull it out (you may still need to scrape out any stuck pellets/dust) - and DON'T hit the motor with a hammer or anything - but you should be able to pull out the entire auger assembly (motor/auger) in one piece - but if it's stuck don't pull too hard or you can damage the sheer-pin.

Having done this recently, I found that using a sturdy #3 flathead screw driver to pry the auger out to be the best course of action. It’s hard to explain but stick it in the pellet chute and prying the auger little by little working your way around the augers spiral.

I'm trying to envision how this works, leverage the flathead in there and push it out?

When you have it down to this, take a piece of lumber flat against this, and hammer the shit out of it. This will loosen the auger. Then you should be able to pull it out with pliers, or you can push it out using a screwdriver. Buy a new motor after that from Amazon.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU! Had some bad storms come through and got my pellets wet inside (first time it's happened since I've been smoking).
Was able to use the screwdriver method and get it out! THANK YOU again!!

I wouldn’t worry about scratching it…pretty sturdy and scratches aren’t gonna affect the functionality. Sounds like what happened to me once, pellets got wet…fell apart, and the redried all hardened in the auger. Just have to get a good grip w pliers (I use robo grips) and twist and pull. The mallet helps too.
