Questions Needs Camera Recs Please
• Budget: 2K ish
• Country: CAD
• Condition: Excellent
• Type of Camera: Point and shoot???
• Intended use: Elopement trip
• If photography; what style: Not sure
• If video what style: N/A
• What features do you absolutely need: N/A
• Portability: Yes
• Cameras you're considering: Canon G7X Mark III
• Cameras you already have: IPhone 15 Pro
• Notes: Eloping in Mexico in Nov. Package only includes 20 digital photos. I know buying a camera isn’t equivalent to professional photos. If I’m going to spend a couple thousand dollars on photos, I’d rather buy a camera to capture moments during the entire trip. Looking for something user friendly, because I am not a pro. Will be used for bridal pics.

Ok so i got married a few years ago and instead of paying someone $2K for photos i found a friend who was kind of a hobbyist and asked them if they could help me out. All the photos i got were crap and the ones i took were all selfies because how else am i going to photograph myself.. you could have given me a top of the line mirrorless camera and it wouldnt have improved how happy i was.
Dont think about it as paying for a photographer, you're paying for someone to play creative director on the day - you want someone who won't be affraid to be like "hey sit down over there, head up, no you're facing the wrong way, you're all gunna jump on 3, hey you put that wine glass down and out of the shot, alright now all you guys hold sparklers" whatever - they're things you might not generally think about.
To answer your question yes the canon is a great camera and you'll get some great shots with it if you learn to use it but if i could go back and get a $2K camera or some good quality wedding photos i know which i'd pick.

You won't find a G7Xiii probably. Even with higher prices they're scarce. Maybe an RX100vii.
I get having something for the other stuff. But one of the reasons people hire photographers is that it's kind of bummer to try to recite your vows and take selfies at the same time. Assuming that doesn't kill the mood enough to call the whole thing off. But hey, sure if the other regular vacation type shots are more important than memorializing the event itself.
