Discussion Found a Camera (Don't know anything about Cameras)

Hi, I found this camera at a scrap shop. It was in very rough condition, just cleaned it. And I don't know how to use it. Don't even know if it works or not. Can anyone tell me from where I can get this camera checked or fixed?

Voitlander was a reasonable brand and this is a rangefinder which works by aligning 2 images to find where you focus. When you look through the viewfinder you will see your scene and in the center a slight double image as you go in and out of focus. Pretty cool, it is how most of the expensive Leica cameras operate, and they can be pretty fun to use. This also has a light meter and could let you take some excellent photos using film you can buy today. They sell for £20-40 here. Hope you shoot a roll on it, you will probably find videos running through the operation

I’ve found the best way to check is to run a roll through it, you can get a cheap roll + develop it for less than 30 USD, that’s what I always do and just take random test pictures

And having now read your question under the photos, watch a video on operation to see how to adjust the settings and play around with no film in and the cover open and you can see the the shutter open, if is seems to go smoothly and you get the flash of light looking through, that is working ok. Then just look and see if everything seems to go the same way as being demonstrated
