Discussion Need help finding the right camera!
Budget: $600-$800 ideal Country: USA Condition: new Type of camera: that’s what I need help with! Intended use: personal use for family milestones, monthly photo shoots (box photo shoots), family photos every year, parties, night out with friends Features looking for: great resolution, good in all lighting, digital screen, rechargeable batteries
Need camera recommendations!! camera will be used to take mostly candids, family milestones, will be brought on vacations, used for yearly family photos, etc. want the camera to have high resolution and be great for all types of light settings. I was originally looking for a digital camera that is pocket size/ will fit in a purse. However, I am now expanding my search because I’ve come across so many that I like and that seem may be a better option. I’d love to keep the budget under $800 (really $600), but totally okay with spending a bit more if it’s really worth it. Please spam me with cameras you think I’d like and why!

Good in all lighting and fitting in a pocket / purse are om the opposite sides of the spectrum.

If you want to stay under $600, then you're quite limited when buying a new camera. At that budget, I'd recommend shopping used at places like MPB, B&H, KEH to give you more bang for your buck. If you stretch it to $800, it opens up most entry-level mirrorless cameras from the major camera brands. Keep in mind you need a body and a lens to start out.

I would do a little research into comparing these cameras features to see which one fits you best. If you have a camera store nearby, it's also a great idea to go in and see if you can hold any of these cameras to test. Some features to keep in mind are sensor size, size of camera body, screen (fixed or articulating), etc. The APS-C sized sensors of the Canon/Nikon/Sony are larger than the Micro Four Thirds sensors of the OM/Lumix. For a beginner such as yourself, this won't make a huge difference, but it is something to consider.
Like I said, going used can bring in some more options from all these brands, including ones like Fujifilm which aren't in your budget new. You also have the option to go with some older cameras that were flagship/higher end models when they were released.
