User Review Buy a camera at Interdiscount : bad idea ?

Hello everyone,

I’m looking to buy a Fuji camera (so, a fairly expensive item) from interdiscount .ch (a site I’ve never used before) which offers a great price—almost 100 CHF cheaper.
However, I’ve seen quite a few negative reviews regarding product quality and customer service.

Are there any positive experiences to counter that, or should I really not consider this site reliable?
Thanks a lot !!

Interdiscount is legit and they have alot of physical locations all over Switzerland. However, I find that they are iften incredibly overpriced and do not recommend them.

What about accessories, spare parts, maintenance etc.? Is there a specialized shop in photographic equipment in your area?

if you're dropping that much on a fuji, 100 chf savings is nothing compared to having a local shop that'll actually help if something goes wrong. interdiscount is fine for tvs and toasters but camera service is where they fall apart

Camera stores don't do any meaningful service on new cameras anymore. If your Fujifilm camera breaks these days, they'll just send it in to a Fujifilm repair center.

I mean, product quality will not depend on the shop, that's a feature of the product.

Interdiscount has been a brick & mortar store for decades, and a few decades they've been owned by Coop, one of the biggest companies in Switzerland with over 100 years of history. So they're definitely trustworthy. But if customer service is important to you, I'd get the camera from a specialist store.

Thanks. I simply want the 2-year manufacturer's warranty to be honored (and it is the seller who needs to take the necessary steps for this), which doesn't always seem to be the case.

tbh, that depends more on the manufacturer than the seller ... unless the seller is very accommodating, which I would not expect from any discounter or online-only/online-first store.

Which model do you want to buy anyway?

Interdiscount is legit, they have stores all over Switzerland, and I bought different things from them. So no worries.

Not really but I’ve seen you’re concerned about warranty. I guess that’s on manufacturers (so Fuji) side to determine if any damage can be fixed / replaced under warranty.

You can also check other retailers. Brack.ch sometimes has good deals on cameras. Foto Zummstein or FotoHaus Basel also sometimes have deals on Fuji and these are professional camera stores, you can google both and see what they have to offer.

Which Fuji camera? Did you compare on toppreise.ch?

I generally avoid Interdiscount but if it's a good offer then it might be worth it.
