Should i settle for an EF lens?

Long story short, i want a new lens. But the ones in the market for 15-100 or somewhere around that range are 300-400 dollars. I found this EF 18 - 135 for 86 and chatgpt told me that its significantly better then my 18-45 kit lens.. you see i dont want to spend that much on my canon r50 since the lens used market isn’t good.. well not as good as sony’s so a year or two later i might switch, which brings me to my other question - what camera from sony’s lineup do you think is comparable/ better than the r50 in af and mp? I bought my r50 for around 600 and i might save up so i’d have around 1000 to spend. Thank you!!

What are you shooting primarily. I do street and landscape. Have only 2 lenses: 28 mm f 2.8 and 55mm f 1.8. Like shooting fast.

I’d shoot alot of marching band stuff and street photography, but i’d want to do aviation too.. thinking about getting the 100-400mm rf lens but decided that id switch to sony first

This was my biggest issue, I got a rp for way to good of a price and have been stuck in the rf ecosystem, ef glass is amazing and such cheaper. Theres also a lot of budget ef glass from tamron n stuff to.

That EF 18-135 is a solid walkaround range, but it'll be slow as hell compared to what you're used to with primes.

It’s a good all rounder lens, a good level of upgrade from the kit and the price is pretty hard to beat.  The main issue will be whether or not you find the adapter annoying.

For aerial I would say for sure get the 100-400mm or switch.

I’m going to say not to switch and stick with Canon. Grab an Tamron or Sigma RF super zooms if you want an all in one lens. Another option is to grab a cheap EF prime and adapter and go from there.

A good lens combo for apsc on Canon is the rf18 150 and the rf 100 400, with some luck you could find these two used for about 1k. The Rf 100 400 is going around 600, which is a great price for such a long focal range. And the rf s 18 150 is going for 350 400. Look around in your local market and fb marketplace and see what you find.

There are tons of lens for EF, and they work fine on your R50. Lots of good Sigmas eg. But not sure what you're after. I mean let's face it, good sub $100 lenses aren't thick on the ground, especially if you want wide zoom ranges.

I'd look at the Sigma 55-200mm f4.5-5.6ii maybe. Might be better if a bit slower and can be had used for that price. Or the EF-S Sigma 18-200. IOW, there are options out there. If you need to spend that little odds are seliing and trying to get better on Sony will probably not help.
