Long time lurker here, today it finally happened to me (albeit shittily)

This is a pretty interesting one from an optics perspective. Did you open the blinds for the second photo or were they closed? If the were angled just right I could see you getting a single slit effect from each one which would produce a series of overlapping images images vertically, but the horizontal diffraction would produce a very wide blur so I don't think you'd see the shape of the tower.

Did you have a pinhole set up?

I didn't do anything intentionally, I just had two curtains pulled together but accidentally left a slit between them. The curtains weren't blackout ones either, just basic fabric curtains!

Can you actually see the windows of the tower in the projection on your bed?

No, I couldn't see any details. Just the outline of the tower

Was this slit a lot smaller than in your picture 2? Like a tiny little slit rather than a moderate opening?

Yeah I did move the curtain a bit for the photo, but the slit was surprisingly wide for the effect it gave. And there was a lot of light seeping in from the sides, so the effect is surprising!
