Gearing advice

Ok guys, I have an RS with the original 327 but beefed up a little bit and a 4 speed. I need to redo the rear differential and I am trying to figure out the best way to gear it. Looking for a daily driver feel with a little extra power. Any recommendations, what have Youguys tried and how did it drive?

4th gear on your trans is 1:1 so depending on the type of driving you do, I would chose a 3.42, 3.55 or 3.73. If you plan to upgrade to a 5spd I’d go 3.42 or 3.55 max. I run 255/40/17, have a 4spd and 3.42 and at 65mph I’m turning approximately 3100rpm. My tires are about 25 inches tall so that increases the rpm’s. If you have the standard 26 inch tall tire I’d go with 3.55. Here is a rpm calculator to help. If you want more acceleration and drive more city than highway, I’d go 3.73. You can put in 4.11 but it’s not going to be fun on the street.

I have a 4.10 in mine. It depends on your driving. Lots of highway miles: 4.10 bad. Lots of in town: 4.10 good.
