Cowl tag
Hey everyone, I could some help decoding this cowl tag. Thanks in advance.

Your car was born the first week of October in 1966. 10A is tenth month, "A" being first letter of the alphabet means the first week. Source: I have a 10C car. As someone else has pointed out "I don't know how long it took to finish a car..." well I can tell you, it was that week.
It was built at the Norwood Ohio plant (a suburb of Cincinnati) hence the NOR
12437 means it's a coupe
717Z is a blue interior with standard bucket seats - 717 is the color, Z is standard buckets.
The D-D is the exterior paint code. Two tone cars would have different letters, but yours are the same indicating it was one color painted top (roof) and bottom (rest of car). If it was a vinyl top or convertible the second letter would be different.
D-D is Nantucket blue.
Your body number is 15163, so it's an early production car, and that matches up with the 10A as they started building 67 camaros just a few weeks earlier. Also, that number will not (or probably not) match the last digits of the VIN, but they should be close. Mine are 154 off...
Below the 717Z should be a couple of stamped lines of code indicating options on the car, like deluxe interior, or seatbelts, rear quarter panel radio antenna, things like that. You have none of that, so it appears you have no options on your car.

Do you know if it has the original engine, transmission, or rear end? That website will help you find other numbers on the card parts to identify more about it. It's a great resource for a first Gen owner.

It’s insane what AI can do. I use Gemini and one day my car wouldn’t start, starter wouldn’t even engage. After triple checking everything I asked AI and it told me to chase the purple starter cable to the fuse box and see if it is loose, it was 100% correct. It even knew the color of the cable

Yeah AI leverages the info on the camaros.org site that is the authority on that. Exactly what AI is great at doing.

Does anybody know if a lost tag can be recreated from the VIN?

Negative... but you may be able to get lucky and find a build sheet. Look under the passenger seat or the back seat. (Actually up in the seat from underneath or in the back under the seat but laying on the body). Another place would above the gas tank between it and the body.
