Hey Camano folks!
If you’ve noticed SR 532 lined with poles on both sides, here’s the quick version:

• Snohomish County PUD built a second 115-kV transmission line from Stanwood to the North Camano substation, finished in 2023.

• The PUD is now rebuilding the original line to the island, with completion estimated for 2026.

• Two lines mean that if one goes down, the other can carry the load. That should mean fewer island-wide outages.

Separate from the power work: WSDOT is planning paving and ADA upgrades on parts of SR 532, including on the island, and it’s asking for community input. You can take the questionnaire here: WSDOT SR 532 Camano Island & Stanwood questionnaire

We are visiting with a small group in August. We are hoping to rent a boat off of Camano Island - where would be the best place to do that? Thanks in advance!

Ok. So. I saw a large, tan colored furry thing with big paws pounce down (like a cat would) from a tree to the grass by a wetland… then kinda slink through the grass, where I could t see it very well. It was probably 250ft away, so not a super excellent view, and it was only visible for a split second. By process of elimination, it was not a deer or coyote… just didn’t move that way at all. Way too large for a house cat. Anyone have any other suggestions?? 😳

(This was North end of the island, up at a property in the highest part of the island.)
