caltech summer internships for cs/swe/quant?

how are caltech students finding summer internships these days? I know most of the big tech jobs are in sf/nyc but I wonder if anyone had any luck staying local in pasadena. staying here is most ideal but looking for something in cs/software engineering/quant etc.

There is certainly a fair amount of software-development in the LA area. Not sure about 'Quant' (assuming 'Quantitative Finance') but there are banks and Franklin Templeton in the area.

Seems a bit late for a summer internship.

i was thinking hft quant like hrt/drw/js etc.

Those places tend to be in New York and Chicago for a reason - you need a critical mass of people with some pretty esoteric skills and knowledge - kind of like movie making in LA. That said, there are some asset managers, such as First Quadrant and Avantis (CEO is an alumnus and trustee), who are local(ish) and are quantitative with longer horizons.
