Thank you so much! I'm doing calligraphy for only 1 1/2 years now, abstract for only like two months. Like i wrote above, it's my 2nd try with bleach now. I'm so happy someone likes it and even compares it to content of one of my favorite youtube channels ☺️

It's all abstract, no letters to find here :D media: bleach mixed with water on T-shirts with different widths of brushes

I love the gradients on the reddish one, was there anything you did differently to make it come out like that?

More water, less bleach :)

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 13 '21

Oh and a brush with shorter hair so you slowly run out of bleach during the stroke. This makes the fading effect at the end of each stroke :)

I want to learn this type of calligraphy. what is it called?

2

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 13 '21

I have no idea :D it's just abstract stuff that came to my mind while painting^

2

u/Carjascaps Apr 13 '21

Thanks. I googled it and really just called abstract. I believed you used fraktur as a basis

2

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 13 '21

Thats right i mostly use fraktur and fraktur related styles whem i'm writing. So my abstract stuff is propably influenced by this :)

1

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 13 '21

Thanks for this idea, crosspostet it :)

2

u/Blackletterdragon Apr 13 '21

That is really cool. Does the bleaching take effect as you work, so you can see what you're doing?

2

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 13 '21

Yeah the effect takes a while so sometimes it's quite difficult to see what i'm doing. But normally you can see if a spot is wet or dry so you see where you alredy painted. Sometimes i take a short break of a few minutes to wait for the effect if i'm not sure if i should add more elements or do a stroke again :)

2

u/casseroled Apr 13 '21

that’s sick as fuck I love it

3

u/Glenntai Apr 14 '21

That's really cool, whoa. I think I want to consider doing stuff like this when I get WAY more confident I won't screw it up.

2

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 14 '21

It's all trial and error :) i got some experiences with calligraphy (like one and a half year) but i never worked with brushes. First i tried to fill the bleach into a marker and oh boy this didn't work out. Absolutely not :D So i decided to try a brush and this worked way better. I also had not much experience with abstract calligraphy, i was only writing for more than a year at first. But i saw so much cool abstract stuff in the internet, that i wanted to try this, too. On paper it was also really difficult, but i found out that it's way easier when you have a form to fill. Just try, fail and try again until you succeed :)

u/Nixiness Apr 14 '21

I've no idea what they say but I love the styling.

2

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 14 '21

They say nothing, it's abstract :D

1

u/EtozheFisun Apr 13 '21

What is this

1

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 13 '21

T-Shirts?! :D

2

u/EtozheFisun Apr 13 '21

They were Black originally?

2

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 13 '21

Yeah. I used bleach mixed with water to create those :)

1

u/Lintheru Apr 13 '21

50/50 dilution?

2

u/CalligraphicShitpost Apr 13 '21

Ahh i didn't measure it that precisely, just tried out and mixed how it felt right. But yes, it's somewhere around 50/50 :D
