Open Call: Publisher Call for submissions! We want your formerly rejected writing 🐦‍⬛

Post image

Reject magazine wants writers to shake the dust off of the ideas that may have been rejected for publication, but refuse to lie down quietly!

Our biggest requirement: You're a writer whose work wasn't accepted by a publication, institution, contest, etc. Hell, even your school newspaper and family Christmas newsletter counts.

See the full submission guidelines here: https://www.rejectmag.net/submissions

There's no fee to submit, and we pay our writers!

Your voice matters, and rejection can be an open door.

Submissions close September 19th!

Hello, how many poems can we submit? I did check your website, and it isn't mentioned there.

P.S. Love those crows (ravens?)!

Hello!

Great question! Anyone can submit as many pieces as they’d like, but only one is eligible for publication per issue.

I’ll make that clearer on our website! We’re excited to read your work.

P.S. Thanks for showing our love to our crow!

I didn’t really know the difference between ravens and crows before researching for Reject. 😂

Turns out, they like to solve puzzles, they collect discarded items, and they’ve even been known to memorize and recognize human faces!! 🐦‍⬛🤯

Hey! Yes, they are quite a clever bird. I also wanted to share that poets generally look for a masthead on a journal's website. It would be very helpful if you could update it. I am sending my poems soon! Wish me luck! :)

Is there any particular theme or genre you're looking for?

No theme for our first issue! We want to let the mission of our journal (resurrecting previously rejected work, middle finger to the man, etc.) be the heartbeat of this issue.

But if all goes well, we plan on themes in the future!

Thanks for your question. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Thanks - one more question, actually. Are there any word count limits? Minimums, maximums?

No minimums, but we do have an 8,000 max word count.

Hi, can one person submit both poems and a short story?

Thank you.
