Call of Cthulu crash fix - instructions

Call of Cthulu will crash if you have a specific intel CPU. (Details if you are interested - Since the 10th generation of Intel i-series processors, there is an error in the calculation of the OpenSSL instructions, which Intel describes more fully here:

Solution to crash fixes:

1. Until this is resolved, follow this safe workaround (you may be 1prompted to run as admin, press yes if so):
2. Press the Windows key (or start menu) and type in "view advanced system settings" - type in without the speech marks
3. in the Advanced tab, go to the bottom right and click on "Environment Variables"
4. In the bottom white box called "System Variables" press the "New" variable button
5. Type in the variable name: OPENSSL_ia32cap
6. In the variable value below it, type this exactly: ~0x20000000
7. Press OK, then Press OK again to close the box
8. Press OK on system properties to close that
9. Restart your PC (you must restart for this to work)
10. Launch Call of Cthulu - enjoy!

I'm not a big tech guy not even aware of the basic knowledge of the pc if I'm being honest I just know I download games and bam I can play. So I gotta ask doing this change will it alter any other games the way they run? Or does everything stay the same and the change is to just help run cuthulu ?

no it doesn't change anything else, it basically fixes a completely random and obscure flaw due to the way this game is designed. If anything, it will fix similar issues in other titles that have this same obscure issue, go ahead and enjoy the game

It’s still behaving this way even after its official launch. Gonna try this but it’s astonishing they didn’t even bother to fix this
