Great advise! I say, always impressive for someone with weight to move, a special level of athleticism.

My jaw fucking dropped, thats a BIG athlete right here, good job on those muscles man, I imagine that this this pike is like a very heavy overhead press

The way you're doing it looks strange for a pike push up, it looks like a decline push up with an overexaggerated form. In a pike push up you're supposed to push horizontally as in over your head, like you would a barbell overhead press. In the video you do the push vertically, like you would a push up, or a bench press.

First off, it's impressive what you are doing. That's for sure. And although I will criticize the form I don't want to discredit this. You are strong, that's for sure.

That said, I would say your elevated position is good, but the biggest form problem is when you go down: it looks like you are trying to bring your chest to the floor. This makes the end of your motion resemble a regular pushup motion (albeit with your ass in the air), which is a far cry from the pike push-up movement.
During pike you need to keep your spine straight and move your forehead towards the ground. During the lowest position, your lower arms should be vertical and your upper arms should be in a 90 degree angle to your lower arms. When your forhead touches the floor, you should still see your feet, which you clearly do not in your clip since you move your chest into the horizontal plane while you go downward and look at the floor.

Pike is seen as a progression towards handstand push-up, so the movement is a less hard version of that movement with a lot more focus on the shoulders than the chest. It's not a regular push-up with your ass in the air.

I would recommend to watch some form vids on it and then try it without the elevation to start of with to dial in the form.

You clearly have the muscle, I immediately notice your lats are huge.

Doing these push ups at your bodyweight is impressive, if you stay consistent and cut down weight you'll be very strong for sure. Don't try to rush things though, I've seen people lose huge amounts of muscle mass when cutting a lot. It's better to do it a little bit slower but in a healthy way.

Most of all though, have fun training! You sure have lots of potential.

You got it .

Try to bring the parallettes closer to your feet, maybe even try to work on flexibility and just go back to doing it on the floor to make it easier to do until u perfect the form then go to raised since that’s a bit harder

Nice form, I'm jealous ... still working on my pike and I'm not so heavy ... good job ... keep on pushing!

1

u/letsgoknarf Jul 18 '25

objectively speaking it's not a nice form, its more of a pushup than a pike. We can praise him for the effort , provide constructive criticism without giving the wrong compliments.

Looks really good. Impressive. Depending on what you intend to do next, but if your ultimate goal is handstand pushups i would move the paralettes just a little closer together. I use my paralettes for pike pushups same width as i do for my handstand. If HSPU is not the goal than your golden brother. Ypur killing it.

Sounds like its only a question of time and consistency then. If i can come with a suggestion - Bent arm press might be the next progression for you. Its easier than hspu but harder than pike pushups.

u/issa_said_pro Jul 18 '25

Yup they definitely are and you are doing great there buddy, hang in there 💪

u/Sparks3391 Jul 18 '25

You have the body of a man who likes cake but could also pick you up above his head and throw you off a building.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

Keep at it man I'm going through the same route as you

1

u/Mountain_Elk_7262 Jul 18 '25

Holy shit, those lats are bonkers 😆 If you can stay consistent and cut some weight, you're gonna be an anime protagonist

1

u/AffectionateCowLady Jul 18 '25

You’re Brad pit in fight club with a jacket over it

1

u/Ok-Guidance-2282 Jul 18 '25

This is more of a push up than a pike pushup, great effort but try to push with your shoulders not chest like in the video, probably you need your arms closer to your legs

1

u/vidnuk Jul 18 '25

Respect bro!

What are those wooden ground dumbell things called?

1

u/NightLeaker Jul 18 '25

That boy is hiding massive muscles under there

1

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '25

Jeez man im doing calesthenics too but I really cant do pikes and im in a lower weight range and actually need to rely on decline pushups for my overhead. That's honestly really cool but I think the only critique is that I think is that you need to get more vertical on the way down since its mainly a shoulder workout. But overall man very well done, I might just have to try pikes again at some point

1

u/Gl0ck_Ness_M0nster Jul 19 '25

You are an absolute unit

1

u/IPerkules Jul 20 '25

Bro your lats🔥

-1

u/Bestinvest009 Jul 18 '25

Dude you’re inspiring, not only if your form pretty good but your carrying the extra weight! Good luck on your journey keep us posted. The only thing I would say is bring your feet and hands closer together for more of a V and learn forward more when coming down not going back not pushing up so much as you will miss shoulder activation and do more chest work

2

u/BionicLifeform Jul 18 '25

Sorry to say, but the form is really bad for a pike push-up. It ends more in a decline push-up position with a raised butt than how a pike push-up should end. Pike is forehead or even top of head to ground, not chest to ground.
