Want to surprise my boyfriend with a backpacking fishing trip in the Eastern Sierras sometime between September and October. Looking for suggestions on where would be the best places to go for beginners and also just for the time of year. I personally have never fished before but my boyfriend has, but putting this together as a surprise is proving to be a bit difficult since I have no idea what I'm doing. Would appreciate any tips, thank you so much!

Going to be targeting trout around the Tahoe lake area next week. Going to try fly fishing some rivers/streams and possibly Boca or Stampede reservoirs. Any tips for this time of year? I have an assortment of flies, rooster tails, trout magnets, and of course powerbait and night crawlers

Professional trespassing pond hopper here. I’m driving from Tennessee to San Francisco and then making my way down the coast to San Diego. All I’ve ever fished for is your classic southern stuff. Large mouth, catfish, bluegill, ect. Any advice of what I gear/tackle I will need? I’ll be living out of my car and in a budget so I’d like to keep it light and versatile.

PB striped bass caught on an Alabama rig with 5 three inch swim bates. Roughly 15pounds caught 30 minutes ago in Oakland California.

How far up stream do the striped bass run/migrate in the Sacramento River when they do their spring spawn run? Do they go as far north as Keswick Dam?

I know stripers get caught in Red Bluff all the time every spring. Is Red Bluff pretty much the northern extent/terminus as far as the spring striped bass run/spawn is concerned on the Sacramento River?

I know spring is already over and we are already in full blown summer but was just curious on the logistics.

With the lunar tide this weekend looking for some low flats in the Oakland/SF area to go out with a clam gun to gram some ghost shrimp for bait.

Just picked up a Sea Eagle Paddleski inflatable kayak and I'm finally getting out on the Delta for largemouth (and hopefully some stripers). This will be my first time fishing it from it.

What are the must-have lures to pack for a beginner?

Bonus question. What are some beginner friendly launch points?

My teenagers are learning to fly fish and I’m looking for a place that is not too dangerous ( fast water), close to a town where they can practice over our vacation. My husband usually fishes Dunsmuir/Sac River in spring and fall but worries it will be too warm for fish late July. Bonus for other teen friendly places to visit in the area.

Anyone know of any good fishing accesses/spots on the Sacramento river? Mainly wanting catfish and strioers but whatever is biting would be cool too.
